Just picked up a block 4.5 bore. If using stock heads what is done with the overhang of the chamber (stock chamber is 4-1/4)? Is the edge chamfered back? Will the piston interfere?

As long as your deck height and gasket have a total of.040" or more you'll be fine. I have a nice set of used Weisco 4.500" bore flat top pistons if you are interested.

Really not 100% sure if you mean Hemi or Wedge since both blocks were made from that common casting.
It seems more of a Hemi question since that's the only one with round 4.25" chambers, but maybe you were talking about a 906-452 kind of a thing since they are nearly round, sort of?

Most Wedge stroker configurations make plenty of compression with a flat piston.
You adjust clearance with gasket + machine work/deck height of the block/how far in the hole they are.

Most 4.500 Hemi pistons....more accurately the ones that I have seen (only a half dozen or so, so not very many TBH)
are flat around the outside edge (as shown) to get around any issues. That being true, then the deck height/how far the flat area is in the hole + gasket
also creates your clearance right there.

Should of said Hemi sorry. Your picture seems to answer the question, just thinking of that sharp edge, could ease it a little. What compression is in your pic. I’ll have a 4.5 crank so I’m thinking not to much dome for 10.1 and stock head. Maybe aluminum sometime in the future as the money comes around.

I chamfer the head if there is not enuff clearance.

Been a few days, just thought to catch up with this thread. 10.3, basically the same combination you're asking for in the parts wanted area, so this is about how much dome you will want.
4.5 stroke, std deck height, 7.100, .990. These are package number 804IN from Diamond, and I believe they are probably Indy's 572 crate engine
piston although I can't prove that, and I did not buy them from Indy.

You're looking at about a 73 to 75cc dome to be in the low 10s for compression like you want.

The edges are all broken by cnc right out of the box, there aren't any sharp edges. It's hard to tell by the pictures though.

Thanks, block is 4.53- .030 over, Hope there are pistons made for that. Looking to do aluminum caps who makes those?

Why do you want aluminum caps on a after market Hemi block?
I would use ductile iron before aluminum on a iron hemi block twocents

It came with no caps, I’m open to whatever. I’ve got 3 stock caps installed so far (stock are bigger for some reason) but would like a stronger cap. I was under the impression aluminum would absorb the shock loads better?

These pop up adds are getting to be a pain!!!

Get the free adblocker on the 3 dots on the top right hand side of this sites web screen scope, Click on the settings and load it on your computer up
Have you check with Summit or Jegs for buying unfinished new caps in aluminum, steel and ductile iron?
If not due that now scope
If they don't offer them try calling Koffels for them at 419-433-4410 scope

cudaman1969 there is a free browser that you can download to replace Internet Explorer or Google Chrome that totally eliminates the pop-ups and most of the ads. It is called brave. Just download it and use it and no more infostinks
