I'm going to replace my w2 340....its been a long time since wrenching it..when it comes to gen3 I'm clueless...my powerwagon runs fine so I never had to work on it.. 5.7 gen3....I'm looking to put together a engine 900-1000hp for my 69 swinger......procharger.....what's needed to achieve close to that HP in a gen3.....I threw this around in other forums here also...

Forged 392 off of a 6.4 BGE block, boost specific rods and pistons, big valve thitek heads, healthy cam 25x/26x and 15 psi from the blower of your choice. Top if off with the best engine management you can afford.

Nothing crazy for these motors.

I agree with Alex, except I'd use the BGE heads for your modest HP goal. I would use a good Aluminum intake, none of the low rise junk.

I'm a NA guy but there are lots of these combos out there

You probably can find a G III quicker and for less money than you will find and pay for an R3 or Ritter block.

Pretty much what I am doing. F3D106 Procharger on a 428 Bge based stroker. Made the engine mount because the gear drive was off a SB Furd. In a 63 Dodge 440.

Find a hellcat shortblock and put some eagle heads on it .
Invest in a GOOD management system.
Have fun on the cheap.
Hell use a 5.7 eagle engine with a good management system and work out the bugs.

On a sidenote IMO forget about the R3 route. One simple reason is none available.
G3 blow up a block and find another one real easy.
Stock heads kills anything out there.
G3 has issues with rockers and cams but it slowly being sorted out.
For now the stock stuff works in 99 percent of the builds out there.
