The flange to flange measurements are correct at about 52 1/2". DAMHIK??? Your wheels will sit differently depending on the brake drums that you use. I had my rear cut for 51 1/2" and then used the 11x2 1/2" drums which make up for the 1/2" lost on the rear. You will need the correct backing plates though. I believe the original drums on the "A" body were 10x2". I question the 68' guess scrathin made(no disrespect) as didn't the 489 not come out till 69'. Of course, the pumpkin could have always been switched. I believe the larger bolt pattern for "A,s" didn't appear until 73'. Of course by then, I am not sure they were using 8 3/4" rears in "a,s" but 8 1/4".

my guess if its a 68 would be out of a Dart GT or something
what is the wheel lug pattern 5 on 4" or 5 on 4.5?
does it have the skinny 1 3/4" brakes?
no A-body 8 3/4 with 4.5 wbp unless aftermarket axles are used or stock B-body axles are cut down for it
some of the later A-body had the larger brakes but the 5 on 4" wbp IIRC
It's a 489 chuck so unless someone put it in it's out of a 69 car.
All A bodies with 5 on 4" had 1 3/4 wide brake shoes , nothing ever wider .

no offence taken yea I allways asume things have been swaped by now...no telling whats in it I know the brake offset on the axles is diff for the brakes between A and B body axles A-body and B,E,C,D,brakes do not mix because of this offset at the axle wheel flange I am running greens and moser axles with the large brake offset for 11x2.5 brakes from a 73 newport 8 3/4 cut and resplined axle will get the larger brakes for A-body check that measurment to confirm that its A-body axles and brakes if its got large brakes it been a worked on

I would for 200$ and the 30" axle sound like B-C body axles A-body should be around 28"-29" IIRC as long as the axle does not tapper down past 28" it can be cut and resplined IIRC some are canidates for this and some are not my 30" axle are from a 67 polar whaich I think is a C-body..not sure but are good canidates for respline 68 parts in a early 69 would sound right IMO of course I can be wrong on any of it,I did my 8 3/4 9 yrs ago and have not looked at it since cept to check the oil or change gears

I cheated on mine. Had the housing built and then bought the axles from Dr. Diff. I realize you already have the axles with the unit, but if need be, Cass can help you out.

A-bodys kinda suck because of the Sbp issue. That leaves us all to use our imagination a little bit. Even so I think mine ran me about $1350 all said and done.
