Hello,
I recently purchased a set of Hoosier 31x16.5 QTPs Part # 17800. Advertised spec on 12" wheel is:
Section width 15.8 ( I contacted Hoosier tech support to confirm this prior to ordering the tire)
Height 30.9
Circumference 97"
After installation of the tires on my 15x12 wheels by my local tire store. The actual measurements are:
Section width 16.4
Height 31.7
Circumference 99.5" (written on the tread of both tires in yellow tire chalk from Hoosier is "99 1/2"
Reducing air pressure down to 10 psi from 20 psi, had a minimal impact of about 0.1"
The overall larger size of the tire from their specifications, now hinders the tire to big for my wheel well.
I plan to contact Hoosier on Monday, explain the concern and hopes of some type of remedy to the situation. Besides the tire being larger then expected, its a very nice looking quality tire that I'd love to try.
Has anyone else ran into this situation with drag racing/bias-ply tires before?
Is there a particular tolerance widow where this type of tire maybe slightly larger or smaller then specification?
Any experience working with Hoosier or other drag tire manufactures with this type of concern?
Any experience or advice you can share would be helpful.
Thank you
