Well I planned to have my new 408 finished and installed in my Duster for this year but I haven’t finished it yet so I’m now on year number 5 with my 422 small block. I lowered the shift rpm down to 6800 last year and 6600 this year to baby it a little. Man what a hot day for our first outing of the year. My son Matt did the driving Saturday (thank God) running a nice string from 6.10-6.11 making it to the 5th round before spinning a touch and the car slowing .01 losing that round. The track photographer shared a nice photo of my Duster

Great pic and sounds like a good time.

How long have you had that car. 36 years?

Honestly I’m not sure but I think I bought it around 2006-2007. My son drove it until I rolled my Daytona September of 2010 and told him to finish his car as I would be driving it in 2011. This is a 1970 Duster but I did start racing in a 1972 Duster back in the 1970’s

Thanks guys. I have really been blessed to be able to do this for so long without missing a year. Long layoffs in the mill, divorce, house and shop for sale, heart attack in 2000, very bad urinary infection in 2016 that led to an operation and wearing a bag for awhile, and a car wreck exactly one year ago today (I was rearended) that totaled my car and left me with a concussion, headaches, blurred vision, and neck issues. Time and physical rehabilitation fixed me up but it sure isn’t as easy as we age.

No those are Keystone trophies. Did you hear they canceled the Nu-Be reunion. Doc that car was sold long ago (the 1972). I confuse guys with the 1970 Duster I race now.

i didn't know the reunion was canceled ! eek rats !
last year, i got the dates messed up and thought it was the following weekend, rather than the one it was !
i was hoping to have my charger going for this year's shindig, but i guess that's not gonna happen.
i still have 7 of my NU-BE trophies, and i "think" i may have found a stash of pics from that era. my lovely wife was cleaning out some "stuff" the other day, and found a bunch of envelopes from the photo store that contain negatives and pics from the early and mid 70's. i'm hoping there may be some treasures there !
i also found a couple of those reproduction class win stickers i had made years ago. did i send you any of those ?
beer
