Does anyone take RT 17 / 86 west from Binghamton, NY to say Cleveland, OH ?
I was wondering how the road is and are there any mountains like going west on RT 80 or is it more flatland.
May travel in November going west. Don't like taking RT 80 in PA over those mountains.
TIA Bob

You could stay on I-390 where it splits off from I-86 , get off at Exit 7(Geneseo), pick up NY63 westbound into Batavia then get on the Thruway (I-90) westbound towards Ohio. You'll go through a few towns on 63. Nice ride, beautiful area.....I went to college there and still go back to visit whenever possible.

PS: Two places worth visiting if you have the time: Letchworth State Park in Mount Morris is known as the 'Grand Canyon of the East' and is fantastic. Batavia has a horse track and casino if you're into that stuff.

Not sure what you mean. Looks like mapquest takes me out Rt 86 to RT 90 To RT 80 into Chicago.

I have driven both many times. 86 is flat as a pancake compared to 80. I prefer it. I live near Binghamton and use it to go to Chicago, Columbus. Going to MCACN?

That's what I needed to hear. Thank you. Going from Northeast Pa to MCACN and really did not want to go on RT 80 in November. I am at the location where I could go either way but Rt 86 sounds much better.Have done Rt 80 before,it's not a fun drive over the mountains in PA with snow.

17/86 easy on the hills but time will be longer than getting on 90, setting the cruise and going. twocents From Batavia its 3.5 hrs. to Cleveland on the Thruway.

I was just on there this past Saturday delivering a GTO Judge to Worcester NY. The road is very good, not a lot of traffic and very scenic. Some hills but nothing like Pa. Not many places to stop if you need fuel until you get to Jamestown NY. So be mindful of that. Watch for deer if you are driving in the dark.

If your looking for a hole in the wall restaurant to stop at along the way I have a recommendation. The Clinton in Salamanca, NY. Awesome Perogies.
All of those small towns along the way have fuel too and most are within a few hundred yards of 17/86.
Enjoy
Kevin

Thanks to everyone. It looks like the best way for me going to MCACN I hate going over the mountains on RT80 in PA, did it before and it always snows in the PA mountains.
