ive searched the archives and found several debates on fuel line size, mechanical vs electric pumps ect. but my question is what mph with a bone stock mechanical fuel pump? my daughter wanted to know how fast her car was, so we raced it late last summer, i put my slicks on the car because it always spun the street tires hard. it was an absolute pig in the first 60 feet. im embarrassed to say but it cut 1.92 60s with no tire spin at all. went through the lights around 111 mph but it didnt feel like it was nosing but anyway i stuck a new converter in it over the winter and i put a tapered 4 hole spacer on it. while i was changing the oil i looked at the fuel pump and realized its still a stock pump. i put a carter strip pump and a regulator i had laying around on it.

I never tried it with a stock style pump but with the Carter street/strip and 5/16 fuel line we've done 11.1 @ 121 mph. 1.54 60 ft. best.

'63 Dodge 330
11.19 @ 121 mph
Pump gas, n/a, through the mufflers on street tires with 3.54's. 3,600 lbs.
10.01 @ 133mph with a 250 shot of nitrous an a splash of race gas. 1.36 60 ft. 3,700 lbs.

my junk has been 119.92 with a mechanical pump, for years i ran 5/16 line and the carter pump. i switched from that to the cv products r5p7 nascar pump (bolts right on a big block with just a touch of clearancing needed) and 3/8 line and didnt gain anything. im just curious if my daughters car will gain any mph with the fuel pump swap. i guess ill see saturday. do you spray your car with a mechanical pump?

I use a stand alone supplemental fuel tank and electric fuel pump to feed the nitrous system. The engine still uses the mechanical pump during the nitrous use.

If you're running ethanol blend fuel there is a good chance you may start vapor locking with the mechanical pump. You may run good with a mechanical pump, but you may run better with an electric pump.
Even Dwayne Porter had been trapping around 119 for years with his stock head 383, which seemed impressive enough as it was, and I think he picked up 2 MPH when he went to an electric.

I had a carter 6903 on my car, and it ran good cold but heat soaked it was a dog. Fuel pressure dropped from 7 to 3 in first, hovered down around 3ish in 2nd and 3rd. Didn't nose over hard, just ran weak.

If you stick with the mechanical run a vapor separator fuel filter, I wish I thought to try it before I bought my electric pump to see if that solved my issues. If you can verify your fuel pressure with a gauge under load.

I could be wrong but I believe dwayne did several changes all at once. I also believe he had a 440 in the car that ran 10.60s at 126 ? With the 5/16th and a Carter strip pump. I always use ethanol free gas in both of these cars. My roadrunner has no issues at all with vapor lock as long as I tun ethanol free gas. y roadrunner uses the cv products fuel pump. Supposed to be able to support 900 plus horsepower so it should feed my junk. It's the same pump a nascar engine uses

How big of a tank do you use for the fuel tank gor the nitrious system and where is it located? I've kicked around the idea of spraying a 150 shot on my roadrunner.

It is a JAZ Jr. Dragster quart fuel cell. I mounted it next to the radiator on the core support to where it looks like the overflow tank. The real overflow is underneath it and so is the fuel pump. I was able to use the existing holes that were for the horns.
