I'm guessing they probably moved it after or else it would have swung out of the way instead of gouging through the body like that.

I have a bend pak and have had it for about 12 or so years. It's used pretty regularly but nothing like a dealership. muffler shop etc. I have had to replace the cables once duer to starting to fray. Also recently had to replace several of the pulleys due to worn bushings, Likely our fault for not keeping them greased spank spank spank

I will say they are proud of their replacement parts. I could have found them cheaper elsewhere but was concerned of the quality of what I might get. beer

Im not sure I buy the fell off the lift story. The front fascia is off, the front end on stands etc.

To me it looks more like the car was getting work done in the front half, on stands and someone ran the lift up and the arms caught the side of the car. Let's see what damage on the other side.

That was probably part of the process of getting it untangled from the lift.

I've been using Challenger 2 post lifts for over 30 years and I really like them. Now the lift that Vette was on was not positioned correctly by the operator (possibly someone who shouldn't be using it ) I have seen that happen before by a careless tech in our shop with a Celica. The car nose dived and when it did the arms went wacky but this was before they had positive locks on the arms. Some guys disable safety features on their lifts because they think it slows them down.

The dealership hopefully with just make it right with cash or new car or whatever. No BS. Tech or Techs should be held accountable. What I see in my town with dealerships the Techs are off limits to disciplinary action and accountability.

He would be paying the deductible where I work and many dealerships have huge deductibles, like $30K. Most guys would just quit at this point and move on.

Right. Most of the dealerships we encounter at work are essentially self-insured for the vast majority of single vehicle losses due to how high their deductibles are.

I agree, it's not like your car gets destroyed and you get to profit from that, but this seems to be an unusual circumstance. Whereas the value is easy to determine on most new cars, this seems tricky. Let's say he paid $65k for the car. In the skewed market where demand outstrips supply and a new/titled Vette brings more than sticker and there are literally no new 2020's to be bought, how do you think value will be determined? It's an honest question for the insurance professionals on the board.

With most vehicles if insurance under estimates the replacement cost of your vehicle it's up to you to prove to them what a realistic replacement value is.
In a case like this I would expect the same- that the dealer either replace the car for me or give me a fair value that I could go out and buy another one.

We're not talking abut what he's entitled to. We're talking about what the dealership should do, what the smart thing to do would be, what the ethical thing to do would be. Would they be incorrect to pay him the value of the vehicle? No. Would that be a good PR move? No. Is the difference in $$$ between what he's entitled to, and what they should do, worth the return on investment when it comes to PR and goodwill? You'd better believe it is.

Per GM: We are not going to build all of the 2020 orders," GM spokesman Kevin Kelly said, adding that GM would work with affected customers and dealers to offer a 2021 option.

Can we get the Mexican cartels to help us with our supply chain issues? They don't seem to have any trouble getting stuff from one place to another.

Thats gonna leave a mark. I would not want to be in this dealer's shoes right now.

i agree.
not only will they they give him a new car to replace this one. they will probably have to compensate him for the log time he won't have a car to drive.

yes it will cost them $$$. but if the dealer has a good customer satisfaction rating they will get everything they spent and more from repeat satisfied customers.

. . . so will this open the door for the addition of a "Mental anguish/trauma" suit - he will claim his life is being altered and there is unrest and issues at home due to his loss? The loss of his corvette means he is no longer getting laid.

the more extreme the owners request for reimbursement the less likely they are to help him.

honestly if this were my car my first request would be another 2020 corvette....even though they are no longer available from gm, if they pony up the $$$ they can be bought for over msrp from flippers.
with it being a new model car in limited production they will be worth $$$ as a collectable car in the future.

iagree This car will be a collectable, probably why GM wouldn't fill all the orders. If it were mine I'd want another one just like it.

Covid took 3 months of production out of the sales plan. In addition, supplier manufacturing in Mexico has limited parts for production. Top selling options have been eliminated on the remaining 2020 build outs.
