I am putting a new set of Trick Flow power port 270 heads on my 500 CI RB and need to have someone spec a cam for me. I bought a used one and it doesn't seem to fit. The bearings seem to be to tight. Weird thing is I have had 3 different cams in these exact bearings. I would assume the used one I bought is bent or not the right tolerance to start with. I was going to call Hughes engines. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I'm sure Dwayne is good but you might want to call Bullet Cams,662-893-5670 or Ultradyne cams at 662-893-8022. They are in the same shop so either one should be able to help you on getting a good cam, they are Mopar specialists also up

I use Scott Brown for any camshaft …..

IF you have cams that spin and one that doesn't? sounds like that cam may be a lil bent???. Usually if the bearings are new, they may be a little tight and need a scraping here and there, BUT that should be with any cam, not just one.

Good luck

I would call Billy Godbold at Comp Cams. I would bet he has the latest designs.

street/strip I assume. I would take a look at the solid comp roller cam dragula is using in his race car. 270/278 110 23-000-9. Not sure how agressive it is. That really looks like a nice cam if ya want to make max power. Bullet has the old UD Harold cam grinds that were designed by the best in the business with aggressive ramps too or Lunati voodoo line, they were Harolds designs as well. Isky makes nice grinds too, but I couldn't get then to spend much time with me. Here's another Bullet/Harold Brookshire grind i'm looking at 269/275 688/645 108. If your looking for a cam that makes your valve train happy and long lasting call Dwayne. My current cam 270/275 is a SLF mild lobe, easy on valve train and in my 511 street/strip car going 10 O's. It all depends on what your doing.

Funny thing about calling cam companies,,,,,called Comp for instance 5 times and got 6 different cams.
My next cam would be spec'd by Dwayne! It's all about the combination!!!

HEMI-ITIS has no cure.
My condition is fully BLOWN!!

I ran a Scott Brown cam for a few years.. that cam was just down right WRONG for my set up
and he speced it out and I didnt like the 112 center line which he really likes.. if this is a race
set up you would be better off with Ultridyne

Been there done that. Every cam guy has his own personal idea of what he thinks is needed and that's why we get those results and comp is not the best place to call for a cam spec. I agree, a matching combo is everything. If Harold was still around you would get the cam that made the most power and was as easy on valve train as possible. Some cam guys are very conservative and some are not. Harold was not conservative and still has some great old grinds.

I agree, my Scott Brown cam was way off with the 112LDA. My car couldn't get out of its own smoke with that cam.

And why Isky is the best overall in MY world and all I use plus my roller has the most aggressive street-ish lobes while being easy on parts. 14+ years and changed springs twice and rebuilt the roller lifters once so far. Easy mid 9's and 6-teens so far and driven a good amount.......680-.660 276-281 on a 108 lsa w/97 degrees of overlap.....
