I picked up this Challenger about four years ago. It's an original U code (440) automatic that was ordered from the factory with the sunroof option. It's a pretty well optioned car that is EB3, Light Blue Metallic, white vinyl top, B5 blue interior. Along with power windows steering and brakes, rear defrost, console shift, dual chrome mirrors, luggage rack and a few more things. It has two original build sheets, original motor and I picked up a correct replacement transmission. The car was sold new at a dealership called Normandin and spent it's whole life in the San Jose area of Northern California where the dealership is still located.. It's pretty much rust free and complete with most all of the original parts and hardware.

Here's the car right before tear down. When the previous owner got it the exterior paint was original as pictured in the first photo. He started to fix and have it repainted. He lost his paint and body guy so the project stopped and that was how I ended up with it. I've had some of the sheet metal stripped and sealed.

Here it is at my buddy Dave's shop with just the suspension and sunroof stuff left. Dave will be supplying his expertise during the restoration.

The original paint on the floors is very nice. I'll just have the exterior stripped and leave the floors alone.

You got my attention with this, especially the sunroof. Please add me to the "Now Following" list. Can't wait to see more progress! I maybe mistaken but you say U code, do you mean T code? I thought U was in 1971.

Thanks Eric for getting a thread started on this car. I was wondering if you had gotten started on it. Following!

Picked up the Challenger today after getting stripped and sealed. It's about as nice as anyone could hope for. Just a few small things will need attention metal wise. It will retain close to 100% of the original sheet metal.

The less metal work the better! Can't wait to see some fresh paint!

The metal portion is complete. Just needed a few small repairs. The original sheet metal lined up nicely with nice gaps. The only repo metal is the lower rear valance. If things go well it should be back from body and paint some time after the first of the year.

grin You must be new here. A few years back now, Moparts was just humming with all the folks who owned "Rock" signed cars. Don't think they ever figured out who it was but he worked at one particular plant and a LOT (literally, a LOT) of B and E body cars feature his "signature" hidden somewhere.
