68 Charger R/T 440 auto. Engine mildly worked over - runs high 12s. Some fuel pumps are $30, others are $115 to $155. Do I need the higher GPH more expensive pumps? Which one is best (holley, mr gasket, edelbrock)? Any advantage to switch to an electric? TIA for any help.

We run nothing but Holley mechanicals.Ran a Carter hipo and its on the shelf after 2 weeks. My kid had 2 bad ones in a rwo one BB one SB.Went to Holley and all was good.In fact I used my one I bought in like 72 that had sat for a while on my 440.With a mild build a stock pump would probally suffice. But I just like Holleys at say 100 bucks.Rocky

This $153 one? https://bit.ly/2BLYH4pHolley also sells the Mr. Gasket brand, it seems - that one is $119. Both are 110gph. What do you think of this one? https://www.holley.com/products/fue...arbureted_mechanical_pumps/parts/7722MRGthanks!

Do you have to put in a dummy/blank for the original fuel pump when you do this and just bypass the tubing?

Well I pulled the line to the carb and the pump is working fine. The carb is just not moving the gas. My friend said a stuck needle and seat, tap the top screw with a hammer. I did, it freed up, car running.
If I ever go back to the track, though, I think I'll get an electric pump. The car would stutter near the end of the 1/4 and more pressure might help. Or I could just hit it with a hammer some more.
