How good does weatherstrip glue work in holding a tire to the rim?

I know somebody has tried that. How did that go? Thanks

7 passes, and zero movement. Looks like I am good without screws! Thanks for replies gang!

Been using permatex high tack for years on Dart with 60 fts in the 1.20s Lots of other cars too. Used to mark the tire and watch it. Now I dont even bother because they dont move.

Glad to hear that!!!!

I would guess though, I probably am not going to break the bead when the time comes, eh?

you might have to walk around the rim a time or two, depending on the machine you are using.
don't over-apply the hi-tack. like the old commercial : "a little dab will do ya".

Bias or radial tires?
Same thing on the OP work
The tire pressure will make a huge differences on when they move or don't twocents shruggy
I use to mark my rims and tires at the tire valve and swap sides on both types of tires tubeless with no screws, The bias tires would move some at first and then move back when swapped to the other side. I don't remember the radials moving very much at all either side or either way confused
I never tried adhesives on any of my tires , I have a old all mechanical tire machine that I mount all my slicks on, I inflate them to between 20 to 30 lbs. and let them sit overnight or longer before putting them on the car to seat the tires as well as stretch the carcasses as much as possible before measuring the circumferences and adjusting the pressures to get the same circumferences within 1/4 inch of each other scope wrench

Cab, I had radial slicks on there and they never moved with 18 pounds of air. But I'm going back to bias and I'm tying the glue method. I guess the tires will be about 12-14 pounds. I'm guessing, hopefully on the high side of that guess.

I'm only in the low to mid 1.40's 60 foot, hopefully be ok.

I used a small dab of white shoe polish on the edge of the rims and tires, it will show if they move or not scope

I do a silver paint pen and line it up with the valvestem. Right rear stopped after moving about 2". Left rear about 1". Never put anything on them.

Ive used Hi-Tack for a few sets now with good results. Remember when you apply to put a thin coat on the tire, and on the rim. Let it set up for at least a few minutes. Most report a little initial movement to set the tire, then solid after that.

I used Permetex . Even ran tubes for a while. Eventually one moved and tore the tube. The other side never moved more than an 1"

I have run Goodyear bias slicks down to 7.5 psi with no screws or adhesive. I marked them for reference, and they have not moved. My 60 ft. times are low 1.30 s.

Doug, you will like it. The new owner has made a ton of improvements, and next year it will be a new facility. Track has tons of bite now.
