My Challenger finally has a garage to sleep in, but I need to find a better wax type product for my daily driven Mitsubishi Montero Sport (darn shame Dodge didn't sell a version of these).

I've read good things about Collinite 845 and also about mixing Duragloss 105 and 601.

Not so much worried about show car shine, more with not washing off (truck spends a lot of time on dusty and muddy roads) and not baking off in the Georgia sun and heat. Also looking for something that goes on and off like normal wax, not interested in spending a whole weekend on multiple steps of prepping, multiple layers, multiple products, etc.

Annnd go!

I am a sales guy and my truck sees lots of interstate driving. I have found just lately to use something with a ceramic in it. you do have to clay bar the vehicle or wheel it first to get most of the crap out of the paint. once you wax with the new ceramic they suggest to have it sit and stay dry for at least 24 hours. if you cant let it sit I don't know what happens but I would go the ceramic base wax if you can, and everyone has one so you have a lot to choose from.

just my two cents twocents

Thank you

I've used a lot of different waxes over the years, but the last couple years I've been using a Meguiar's spray wax.
Definitely use a clay bar first on paint that still has its shine.
Faded/oxidized/stained will need compounding first.
The spray wax lasts months outside, easy to apply.
The ceramic sounds longer-lasting but I haven't tried it yet.
Here's a winter pic of my trusty '93 Pathfinder, mostly original paint, 209,000 miles.

Go to Autogeek.net or Autopia.com and get on the forums.. A sealer would be a good choice over a wax, but not quite as good as a ceramic coating.

I’m still using Nu Finish in the orange bottle.

I agree with the above post about Nu-Finish. I've used it for years and find that it lasts a long time. I bet it holds up better than than the Ceramic that has just come on the market recently.

The old original Astro Shield. My dad dabbled as a dealer for that stuff & I still have 6 or so cans of it left. I've heard from people & read on forums where people would swear by it. Personally I don't know, but people rave about it still.

I've been using Collinite 476S for the past 5 years on my daily drivers. It actually lasts a year. I wax my vehicles every September, same time each year. The stuff is great. I think its made in NY . https://www.collinite.com/product/no-476s-super-doublecoat/

I agree, using a clay bar once in awhile works wonders. I can't believe the crap that comes out of the paint after a good washing.

I still like Nu Finish as well. It really is pretty good stuff, and buffs off easy.

I don't know how long it will last but I recently had my Magnum detailed by a professional detailer. He sealed it with a ceramic sealer and so far the car looks better than it did when it was new!

It is supposed to last a year, he also has a six month version.

Since my car is garaged and not really driven that much I hope it will last longer than a year.

My response- all conditions determine level of detail. If you have a daily that truly lives outside, it needs a week to week, month to month plan. Do you have hard water or is there an issue with your water? The car in question will need a deep level of cleaning and detailing, then a monthly follow up. A paste wax I've found over a liquid for cars kept outdoors lazts longer, but a ceramic coating does won ders too.

Outdoor daily's are a pita for people that are detail freaks.

I've got a cupboard full of wax but always fall back on good ole turtle wax.
With base/clear even with little to no cleaning it holds up pretty well in the sun and on the colors and models that are prone to clear coat problems it happens at some point no matter how fussy you are with it.

Thanks guys!

I wish they made new ones as well, I would probably buy one.

The only thing I miss is some of the modern electronics, like adaptive cruise control etc.

A 6.4 SRT would be very nice!

Thx B ... I’m convinced! But I don’t know where you are in Florida but here on the BEST coast (West!) ... they are pesky for sure but CENTRAL areas like Sebring... they are terrible ! A guy came to my shop some months ago from Arcadia I think .... his Chebby minivan was STAINED with those bugs.
