Has anyone installed a Glow Shift T-fitting (5/16") into their trans line? pictures? best location? wiring from sensor?

I'm getting ready to install a trans temp gauge and I'm debating the T-fitting location. I do have a remote cooler in front of the radiator (by-passing the factory radiator cooler.. new US Radiator aluminum triple flow radiator doesn't have a trans cooler).

I can't use a deep pan because my car sits low and it'll hit the ground. The only deeper pan vs stock would be the Moroso 42080 as its about 1" shallower than the typical deep pan... measures at 2-5/16" plus gasket thickness. That Moroso pan has two front plugs.. could possibly fit a sensor into one of the plugs.

727 or 904? The factory 518's and 500's used a deep stamped steel pan. Have you measured how low one of those would hang?

newly built 727... small block 410 stroker... used for AX, HSAX, HPDE road course racing (lapping sessions)

Also, as I've used a common deep (~3-3.5" pan in the past)... then oil will run up and spill out of the dip stick upon hard g-force left-hand deceleration/sweeping turns, etc... wish the pan could be baffled... a locking dip stick is also used,,, but the g-forces are high in my racing conditions, so, the less fluid stock pan has proven the better route... I'm only considering the Moroso 42080 pan because it's shallower than most deep pans.

Moroso pan looks nice, but $250?

I’m using Dorman 265-827 on my 518, 2.75” deep and only $40

I've welded in bungs into tranny pans as well as tap aluminum tranny pan bosses for the temp. senders.
I saw a post on the CTD site years ago about installing the sender in the front servo (there is a NPT plug at the top to use for pressure readings, install it (electrical senders) in that hole scope up) on the early (1998) automatic O.D. tranny in the CTD trucks, I switch mine after that and saw no differences in the readings shock
That's where I install mine now up
My thinking is you want to know the temps of the fluids circulating through the tranny, not going or returning from the cooler work

I use the Moroso pan in my Duster with a temp sensor in the port.

I got the brass fittings all for under 20$ or soand placed it under the starter and hang it off the oil pan with a long stud.
ps:sorry I see you run hard line but you can buy a fitting to adapt to that for my tee.

I've always used what I think is a factory port for pressure testing. Sensor that comes with Auto Meter gauge threads right in. Recall this being on the advise of an old time trans guy.

Mine is located at the front trans line outlet on the transmission.

Best location?

Depends what you want to actually determine.
The front cooler line fitting is trans “out”, comes right from the converter and will be the hottest.
The rear fitting is “cooler return” and will naturally be cooler than trans “out”.

In the trans pan will be the temp the trans internals will actually see. (This is the location used in all the Chrysler 4 speed transmissions RWD transmissions and all electronic FWD 4 speeds. Since the late 80’s.)

The front servo should show close to pan temp but only see substantial flow in high gear.

The rear servo will only see flow in manual low and reverse and would be the last place I would install a sensor.

As for your dipstick leak, that shouldn’t happen. You either have a bad tube or seal or both. If you can’t fix it then for your application I would tap the bore and install a threaded plug and be done with it. Transmissions today don’t even have dipsticks.
