hi doc , yup TOLL GANTRY's , new way to get money without paying anyone to run them .they are putting them up everywhere. mass turnpike should have been paid off 20 years ago . NOPE , toll gantry's for another 50 years . and conn likes what mass is doing , so toll gantry's going up there . on roads that they RIPPED OUT THE TOLL BOOTHS !

Yeah and I know some things about the Mass Pike .... I grew up in Westfield with a view of the Pike in the way distance

You might consider getting a Sunpass. I use it for taking the Veteran's Tollway down to Tampa and back north.

The 376 corridor between New Castle and Pittsburgh been like that a couple years that I know of. Unmanned and double the toll. Guess how many fingers I'm holding up?

Have you also noticed the facial recognition cameras at the booths, now unmanned, that have been in place for the past few years?

They have been reading/recording your plates in Florida for over ten years, I guess they figured they might as well cut out the middle man, the toll collector and just bill you directly.

Not sure how they are still charging by axle accurately with this latest system, I know for fact they are not, but I am not going to say anymore on that topic.

Also note, the toll areas are also speed reduced sometimes enforced speed traps, that likely will soon be automatic also.

I have not been to Florida for 20 years or so. Probably never will go again. I'm sure it is fine place, I'm just not interested enough to go back. Plenty of other places interest me more.

Many places are selling roadways to private corporations. The state/municipality gets a one time infusion of cash, so their balance sheet shows they don't have to raise taxes in the current term. Then the private corporation gets to raise their toll fees as much as they can for the next 75 or more years.

jaySEAsee ... me thimks what we have to do is fabricate a license plate flipped like in the James Bond movies so when we go through the toll area it shows the plate of that from north of coders number ... THEN he is billed

I was thinking more like a remote control flipper switch mounted on the steering wheel, to lower the tag, to expose my gas tank filler on my early 60's Mopars for the young attendants at the full service pumps.

We have had unmanned and manned toll booths next to each other for years in Illinoise. If you have an iPass and go through unmanned then it is half price then going through manned booths. Everyone tells me how cheap it is in Illinoise compared to other states, and I have seen that going out east. Florida is still pretty cheap compared to the east coast!

The Skyway Bridge is $1.50 cash ... the Pass is $1.25.

I’m calling those turkeys tomorrow and tell them I moved to NORTH of COODER ... and they can send the bill THERE !
