My 1970 340 Dart has it's original dual scoop hood on it. I have another hood from another 70 Dart I used to own that I want to put a dual snorkel scoop on to put on the car in place of the dual scoop hood. I was looking at the hood that I want to mount the snorkel scoop on to locate the scoop stud positions per a photo I found on here from another thread on the subject. It turns out that the hood doesn't have any of the factory stamped holes in the sub-structure on the underside that are shown in the photo, So I looked at my dual scoop hood that is on the car and it has the factory stamped holes as per the photo even though they aren't used for the dual scoops. Were there two different hoods (beside the scoops being added) that they used on 70 Darts? Also, is there such a thing as a template available for locating the stud holes from the top side of the hood?

Every 70 Dart hood I have seen, even slant six cars, have the cutouts and openings in the support structure for the twin scoops.

Are you sure this other hood you have is for a 70? It should have holes in the front center on the hood for the chrome Dodge script.

Also if you have a twin scoop hood you should be able to measure off of it to recreate the openings in the other hood.

'70 through '72 share the same hood.

I have a 70 Dart and the restoration shop suggested that I purchase hood scoops because the hood has the provisions, which make it a simple install.

Yes, they are the same except for where the Dodge emblems are located.

The extra hood I have is from a /6 70 Dart I used to own. It does have the Dodge emblem in the middle and it was the original hood on the car. It is buried in the garage right now but as soon as I can get at it I will post a picture of the underside so you can see what I mean. I am not referring to the holes for the twin scoops but rather the holes where the studs would go for a dual snorkel.

Here are a couple of pictures of my hood in question as well a picture of one I found somewhere in a thread about dual snorkel scoop mounting that has the eight holes for the scoop circled. As you can see, my hood does not have the five larger holes in the sub-structure at the rear of the hood. I know that the three toward the front of the hood just need to be drilled out for the size of the scoop stud but the five toward the rear of the hood I guess I'll just have to drill out with a hole saw. No big deal but I was just wondering why they would have had two different versions of the hood.

First one I have seen like that. I guess just make your own holes and run with it.

Here's a picture of the under side of my original 340 hood. The picture you posted is for a 72 snorkel hood.

I know that. If you read my original post I said that I wanted to put a dual snorkel scoop (not dual scoops) on the extra 70 hood I have which is the yellow one I posted the pics of. The 72 hood I was showing for reference of the hole locations for the snorkel scoop.

72 structure and hing mounts are different than 70-71. Here is my 72 hood that has the factory holes for the snorkel scoop which I've installed.
