I've got a proform main body that both accel pump circuits seem to be clogged solid. Bowl and metering blocks are clear, as are the nozzles, but I can't get any carb cleaner through the body. I can spray either direction and nothing. I bought some cheap little carb brushes

but I can't get them wormed up in there, maybe too big?

How do I break the log jam?

I’m assuming you have the check valves/needles removed.

If you’re only dealing with the main body, there isn’t much to it.
Two holes at 90* to each other, connected at the intersection.

I’d just use a small drill bit and spin it in with my fingers from both sides, or a stiff piece of wire, like a paper clip.

If you use a drill bit, be sure it’s smaller than the ID of the seat for the check valve so you don’t damage it.

I use good tip drills and a pin vise like these, you can probably get a cheaper set at NAPA

I got that set on ebay for $7.00 shipped.
Getting those pin drill bits back in the correct spot is a real challenge.

I ream the shooters with the appropriate size bit in a pin vise then brake clean and air.....

Never heard of it clogging in the main body. No air? No carb cleaner? I'd be in there with a light and a probe making sure it was even drilled all the way.

I'm sure your problem is the check valves under the squiters.
Take the carb off, take squirted off and turn the carb upside down and see if the check ball falls out.
Then carb cleaner in the hole and check valve. You will be fixed.

I have seen squirters not drilled all the way through.

Seems pretty clear the squirters aren’t plugged.

Never heard back about the check valves/needles though.



That was my first thought as well. I’ve had them stick in the bodies numerous times.

Today's fuel makes problems worse.
It's an easy fix.

haven't got it on the car, but finally did get the needles out. They were pretty stuck. Maybe dumb luck, but I've never had one do that.

Get a can of good carb cleaner and squirt a bunch of it through the feed holes in the carb, metering block and float bowls and a lot of high pressure air to blow any residual crud left in the passages, let it soak as long as possible before using the air

I just fixed a VW beetle carb for a hippie I know. Same deal, stuck check balls = no acc. pump.

The ethanol fuel does a good job of gumming things up. Its some valve sticking bs they are selling us.

For QUICK fixes I just swap a couple plug wires and fire it up! Let it backfire through the carb real good 2 or 3 times and you should be good to go.
