Pretty easy question here.

Ive a early set of sig erson springs early 80-s and a set of hughes, both new, both approx the same specs.

The erson springs look far better outwardly but we know that dont matter.

So my question is, is the older spring (spring material) possibly better the a current hughes spring? Just wondering about material quality, where made, ect?

Is one better then the other?

Thanks!

Without knowing who made them and what spec. that they needed to meet when they where made (and who made them)there is probably no way for knowing for sure about either one other than sending them to a good testing lab and having them tested.
Do you have access to a good valve spring tester? If so I would test two pairs from both sets at room temps (cycle them from the seat to full open heights 5 to 10 times) and record that information. Put them in a oven heated up to 160 to 210 F, your choice on the temps used, for 30 to 45 minutes and then let them cool down over night and then retest them. The set that loses the least amount of pressures would be my choice twocents work
