That's messed up.
He really should get it.
If NY is anything like Michigan (messed up similarly at all).....this happened to me once, I got 2 checks and then was cut off for no reason, and then about 3 years later they sent me several months worth all in one shot. And they didn't say why they sent it or what it was for, so it was just mystery money from the state. It took me awhile to figure it out.
Maybe that will happen to him too.

Maybe that will happen to him too. Eventually he will likely get back checks.... I know PA is still getting caught up. It took a few weeks, but my brother in law finally got an extra check for the week they initially missed. He actually got the $600 from the Feds, before the 1st PA UC check showed up. For now he's happily making about $100 more total PA+FED then he makes working. But he's bored & ready to go back... apparently fishing every day for a month gets old.

Ive never been laid off , so im ignorant to rules.
In march I laid off 2 men 1 started receiving benefits pretty quicky The other just received last week .
I received my ppp loan so i called them back On.
Theyre both coming back , but one guy was bummed , Because for 5 weeks , hes only received one check .
With the 7 day waiting period rule in place .
Why wont he get compensated for the time hes been off ?? My understanding is if you draw unemployment that disqualifys you for PPP money. Not sure on the full extent of the rules.

It will likely be taxable, and then your cpa will deduct the wages paid by it as a business expense, so its a wash if you pay wages.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I would read what you circled as "Actually HAVING Covid-19"... But being you're in NY... "they" probably read it as "if ANYONE in the State has the Covid". They knew this would happen when they failed to cap payments at 100% of previous pay. And they just didn't care...
