The Edelbrock dual quad single plane intake makes more power and is the same height as the factory dual plane 2x4. I switched but have not yet got around to dropping my refreshed 528 Hemi back in my Shaker 'Cuda. I missed the dyno test on this - can you point us to it?

Reason to use the factory manifold (instead of anything else): when nothing else is legal. The larger your engine and power goal, the worse choice it becomes.

That is what I have on my 540. I bought and ran both Indy intakes on the dyno during break-in because I couldn't wrap my mind around Indy's recommendation that the DP was a better choice for my combo. But it was. The DP gave up less than 15HP @ 6,800 and picked up a bunch throughout the rest of the range, where my car spends the most time.
The combo is a 540 with Eddies ported by Modern, 250* sft cam, 10.25 comp, 1050 Dominator by ThumperDart.

thanks Dave! Can you recall how much you picked up and at what rpm?

You know, I really like the idea of it, but I’m not sure I need a dual plane with 572ci and a 4.10 axle.
I’d give one a try if a deal came along though.

Agreed, it took me a minute to figure out if he was talking about the modded OE intake, or the one Indy sells using Vanke as a marketing term.
I think I will start selling Beer, and I'll call it 440 6 pack....

The OP asked about the Vanke Dual Plane, which is an Indy intake. But it seems that some on here confused that with the Vanke 'mod' that was/is done to other intakes.
I have the dyno sheets somewhere for my engine, but it seems to me that the DP netted about 30 more down low. And I agree with previous posts that the thing makes so much power that having even more is about overkill.
But the real reason to run the DP on a street car is it's manners. With big inches and a dual plane intake, the Hemi drives like a wedge. Off idle and low speed transitions are much improved.
But let's not forget about the carb. I have ran several Dominators and they are just not calibrated for what we are trying to do which is not surprising given that they are race oriented carbs. They are usually so fat down low, that they offset a bunch of what the DP gives us. That's where ThumperDart comes in. Dom has the calibrations down pat for this situation. For those of you that haven't driven a big inch Hemi, with a DP and one of Dom's Dominators, you are really missing an enjoyable experience. Now there may well be other Dominators being built like Dom's that are calibrated for our combos, but I haven't found them yet.
And one more thing, be sure to have Indy install the bottom plate to keep the hot oil off the bottom of the intake.
