Why don't you look for skeletons in Shad Sullivan's closet, and see if he's a crackpot.

Your still a silly poster.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmp_BjXxEcU

Half the [censored] hes saying is untrue, I know this factually, I know whats happening in my region and with my neighbors and myself.

I could sell my 600 head of cattle today, I could sell them in lots of 50 to a processor 6 miles from me.

No one here is plowing fields under.

Whatever your kick is, good luck. But it sure as hell isnt mine or farmers/ranchers here.

So what is your point, your message your trying to get across and what is your standing in the ranching farming community?

It's great you all that have 2000+ acres. Not everyone can, there isn't enough room. I've got some acreage to grow some vegetables and there will be chickens soon but since we just bought this place we are only starting. Not everyone is so blessed and they depend on those that are.

Lol! I wish I could have afforded to buy 160 acres across the road from my dads place a few years back before I got sick and dad passed away! I was even approved for the loan. It was purchased by taxpayers. Well...Taxpayer money that went to a millionaire farmer. And yes. I know him personally. My wife and I can vegetables for the winter and have been buying 1/4 of beef from the same farmer for over ten years.

I have 3 acres west of you in Addison Twp. and the farm is near Rapid City, just south of Torch Lake. We have 30 acres that we just planted 200 blueberries bushes on (plus all the birds). Best of all, we can hit the hole in West Grand Traverse Bay and fill the cooler with these big boys on the weekend.

We are planning a produce stand later this summer when stuff is ready to pick. It will be another year till the strawberries are ready to sell commercially.

I am not rich...but I get off my ass everyday to make sure I am not broke!

Can we get the Mexican cartels to help us with our supply chain issues? They don't seem to have any trouble getting stuff from one place to another.

People that live as self reliant, or self reliantly as they choose are better adapted to get through this being smart and planning ahead. I don't have big acerage (4 ac) but could do with less land and still take care of wife and I and our daughter's family of 4 food needs. Rather than sit back and see if the relaxing of restrictions works, do yourselves a favor a plant a few things. Container gardening works fine. I can think of several garden foods that don't take much room and yield many lbs of food. While at it plant some "keeper type veggies. winter squash, beets, carrots come to mind.
I could raise a cow or 3 on our land irrigated, hogs, lots of fowl, but choose not. I hunt and fish too, problem is if things get tight don't expect much time for hunting an fishing, probably need to spend time tending to things on your own property and make sure things don't get compromised.

We have our peas, carrots, and string beans in the ground. I have 40 tomato plants sitting in the sun. I gave my aunt and uncle 5 plants as they are getting old for planting a garden.

If a persons city or county would not be a road block a person could do alot with an acre or two.

A person could buy or hatch there own chicks, I hatch alot of mine and end up with alot of roosters, but whey they are old enough they are still meat. Last time I did roosters I did 25 in an afternoon, not alot of fun though.

Back to what the op posted about, maybe with all the money the gov gives farmers some may figure it might just be cheaper to buy from others, long before the big exports and gov. handouts we still did well but so that tells me the farming industry has been messed up since the 80=s if one cant make it on there own. This new stuff is just adding to an old pile.

I left and went to the military, college and some other things and returned to farming and I think the average age of the American Farmer is near 70? And boy do most live way behind the curve, farmers, heck white people in general need to step up or get left behind vs complaining.

I did not grow up here, god help the gene pool, id not like to think my small area was as behind and stuck in the bowl haircut, nuclear family days like most still are around here.

Im not happy to write this and sound neg. about things, I love where I live and my community, good honest people but dam, so far lagging in so many ways.

I dont live large, id bet my one farmhouse is worth less then a new fully loaded dodge diesel, but no debt, a shop full of mopars and most importantly im happy.

This was less then a month ago.

Alot make there own these days, id think it might not be super hard.

I know a couple that go one time a year to I think just outside of St Louis and get 15-20 gallons of moonshine, they pay a good bit if I recall.

We have oil here and natural gas, id like to figure out if it is possible to make gas or diesel or for that matter we got corn and corn and corn and more corn.

You are not in touch with most of the country, an acre or two is way out of reach for most people especially on the coasts. My home in FL sits on 1/2 acre. My home in WV sits on 15 acres, is larger than the FL home and was bought for about half the price. But you have to want to live here, the closest store is an hour away, Home Depot two hours away. There is no cell service, only satellite TV and internet and it sucks out loud. The TV is unwatchable. Like I said, consider yourself lucky I guess because you do live in Kansas anyway. Not everyone can do that, I know I couldn't. Endless flat land with miles and miles of nothing, no thanks but good for you.

You are not in touch with most of the country,

Yep, Id agree with that a bit.

Luckly, I can pull antenna tv from 165 miles away on a 35 foot tower, im right on the internet 2 route and pull from fiber optics so ive great internet, some are still on dial up copper.

My new cell works inside but no data for miles.

Jones, do you think you and your lady can be happy full time there in WV, I think you will grow to love it, but good internet and cell would make it a bit better id think. My internet is costly, but fast and has never ever went down, if I had crap internet id not be so happy.
