I have a couple of questions for the ignition lock experts.
The type of locks that I have questions on started with the column style lock beginning in 1970.
I have attached a picture of some locks.
Lock #1 is from a 1970 Sport Satellite with the non Rally dash and has a satin finish that is similar to the dash switches.
My first question is - were the satin finish locks used after 1970 and if yes till what year?
Lock #2 is from a 1970 GTX with the rally dash and has a shiny chrome finish.
Lock #3 is unknown and also has a shiny finish but no thumb tab on the knob.
My second question is - what year did they remove the thumb tab as shown on lock #3 ?
Thanks! MJ

Satin finish is 1970 ONLY! It matches the satin turn signal lever, again 70 ONLY.

My Superbird had the satin finish part. Bill Allphin may be able to help you with more info, He helped me out with my steering column.

Agreed 100%, Also the shift lever is a satin finish if equipped as such .

Original satin finish ignition cylinders are EXTREMELY tough to find

#2 is the chrome replacement is the superseded part

#3 as to WHEN the thumb tab was removed,,,,,,,Ive no idea

PS, the turn signal lever is satin finish from 1968 thru 1970. ,,same goes for the column shift levers if so equipped

I unfortunately don't recall the ign switch in my '70, but I DO recall the crappy finish on the dash switches laugh2
