I want to go to my retirement property to do some necessary wiring repairs. I have a good friend who is a self-employed Electrical Contractor and he has zero work now. I would fly him up and back so that if his work picked up he would only be out of town for five days TTh-tues, not to mention pay him . Now, my problem is this, I have to drive my PU truck full of tools and equipment from Houston to mid-Idaho, through Colo, Wyo, Montana, hang a left to Idaho. I am wondering if anyone in any of these states knows if there are any issues with traveling thru them. I can't imagine there is, but after hearing that Michigans Governor is telling their residents that they cannot go to their cabins in the U.P. you almost have to worry if that might happen somewhere else. Anybody with knowledge and advice, I am all ears! Thanks, Lee.

I don't think it's an issue, but if it is, I can give you my # - I'm in Idaho, up by Sandpoint. Use me as an excuse !
For that matter, if I can help and you're not too far away, let me know.

We have been told that if we try to go thru Idaho we well get pulled over. Maybe just Washington state plates. ???
May need to call the Idaho state police non-emergency line.

My brother just travelled from MS to Utah and at the Utah border had to fill out an online form telling Utah were he had been the last several weeks. Once the form was filled out he was allowed to travel north of Salt Lake to do a commercial job fixing an interstate highway.

I need to pick up a car in the Detroit area but I hear the Governor in Michigan banned unnecessary travel. I know it's necessary to me but what's the deal?

I'm bored. Need a project.....

Looking for affordable 72-74 Cuda parts

The unnecessary travel thing and the "don't go to your cabin in the UP" thing show good intentions and are
a very good idea, but they are also next to impossible to enforce.

I haven't heard of anyone pulled over to ask where they were going/no other reason.

While this stuff is no joke, best I can offer is "do what you need to do, but be really careful".

If you do get pulled over, you could always stick your head out the window and have a coughing fit.....

Eventually residents in growing numbers are going to tell our governor to get stuffed. Will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the month.

I sure hope she opens her eyes by then.. there are tons of Mich people that farm for a living and the dead line
is closing in for them and they will have to plant.. I like to follow the orders and am doing it but things need to
get done at certain times... hopefully

Utah set up a State Border patrol? eek

Should just told them he jumped the Fence at the Arizona/Mexico border and was heading north.
They would have promptly sent him on his way... whistling.

Not just going to be Michigan. Unless people start seeing mass deaths in their own area, they're going to stop following these directives once the weather gets nice. And the media is going to fan the flames.

I read a news report that said Montana's governor is trying to crack down on out of state and "non-essential" driving. Most of the other western states don't seem to be quite so exited! I guess I could reroute a bit to avoid MT. but they did say they are looking at relaxing some of the restrictions by the first of the month, which is when I will be leaving. I honestly thought if I was going to have a problem on my route it would be Colorado since they have changed demographics so much, but I guess not. Anyone from MT. got any input? I usually take I-90 east through Missoula to US 12.

You can avoid Montana completely quite easily without going out of your way at all but to avoid Utah you have to go to Vegas and then up 93. You said mid Idaho so I picked Sun Valley and going thru Utah is 1768 miles vs 2038 thru Vegas. Going the way you usually go is 4 miles further, at least to Sun Valley so a wash as far as Utah vs Montana routing.

Ah, you've got nothing to worry about, anyway.
You're going there for legit reasons.

I've driven all over to keep my projects going but have usually combined
those trips with other errands. Since fuel cost is low, and I pulled the
collision coverage off my pre-pandemic daily driver...99% of the time I drive my old green '72 Dodge.
It sticks out visually a little bit LOL. Nobody questions it.

If I get groceries at the store closest to the machine shop instead of the one
closest to the house, well....I still went to get groceries, somewhere.
The rule doesn't say exactly where.

The spirit of the rule is to try to prevent the small hospitals in sparsely populated areas
from being overrun, if someone should get sick and spread it around in
one of those areas. It's just temporary prevention.

Safety in numbers. I could only imagine what would have happened at that protest of they tried arresting or dispersing the crowd. Some of these measures the governor is instituting seem to be over the top.
