I have 2 Road Runner Beep Beep horns that work but need to be restored. I got the decals but have had no luck matching the original color. I'd like to do it in a highter grade automotive single stage urethane but have not really found a color close.Something in PPG-RM-AXALTA whatever. I'm not sure they were that crazy about the color anyway. all of mine are different colors and the aftermarket one on my car the bracket is a different color than the horn. Just wondering if anyone has found something they were happy with other than spray paint. thanks

Frank Badalson has it in a can so you can shoot it with a gun. Close to original as available. Only thing is after painting even two horns you will have most of the paint left over.

Many years ago, there was a model paint - Testor's IIRC, small rattle can - that was an exact match for mine.
Might find something at a craft store, too.

I remember a post mentioning that a Testors color was a dead on match. I thought I had saved it but I just can't find it now. frown

Found it: Paint Post

I have the paint formula for the correct paint and had it matched at a local paint supplier. I then passed on the correct paint formula to Totally Auto's paint guy, as the initial purchase from him was too light.

We used a buddy of mines original 70 superbird horn, and my A12 horn, which were the exact same color match.

I posted the same query over on B-bodies only earlier this week. Got pretty much the same answers. I shot mine with the Testors paint and it was fine for a while but has faded to almost white. So I'd like to do it in a higher quality 2-stage paint. There are spray bombs out there, here's a link to one: Price is reasonable enough but its still only a spray bomb - no catalyst and no hardener.

You should paint the horn with color and clear coat of urethane. First, apply the colored paint to the surface. Let it dry and shrink for 3-4 days. Sand it with 600. Mix clear paint with 10% of colored one and apply to the horn. To match the color of urethane with 69 beep beep horn consult autobody shop specialist. He’ll mix in pigments to create the color you choose from RAL chart. This method works on nickel-plated steel too. I have a bright-yellow truck horn hanging on my garage door.

I used Krylon 5221 Gloss Gum Drop and was happy with it. I found it at Lowe's. I tried the one Scott Smith recommended Testors 1234 Gloss Purple but did not think it looked original. BTW Scott has probably forgot more than I will ever know.
