Finishing up 5.9 swap into the Dakota and obviously need to swap the front coils as the nose is very low due to it being a V6 truck. My question is will 1st gen 2wd Durango coils work since they are more plentiful in the pullaparts? Checking different part #s at RA shows very little interchange and that a 4.7 is different than a 5.2/5.9, I'm guessing since the 4.7 is lighter.
Anyone have some input?

Don't know about part numbers or spring rates but I have 1st hand experience.
I swapped 5.9 into a 3.9 (1994) 2wd Dakota. The 3.9 had A/C and all usual options.I kept the A/C so pretty much a 1 to 1 swap. I cut 1/2 coil off the 3.9 springs and have Beltech 2" drop spindles. There is 1 1/2" between the 27" tire and the fender lip and plenty of up/down travel.

Thanks but I want to raise it, not lower it. grin PO had put on lowering blocks in the rear and those are coming off in the near future. up

3rd gen Dakota? 97-00 (or 01) ?
There was a Dakota RT available in 97 that came with a 5.9 option. I'd probably just use the front springs for them. The early Durango 97- 2000 or 2001 were based on a Dakota chassis, so those front springs should work as well. I would also suspect the 03 (or 04) and newer Durango and Dakota probably shared the same chassis and probably used the same springs. My background is in the 88-96 Dakota era. Gene
