I got a Griner brake recently. I believe it's an older one. What is (if anything visible) a way to identify if it's a Low Band apply brake or not?? I'm presuming it's a PNN123 pattern .

The ones I had were set up to apply the band when the brake was applied. Once the brake was released, the pressure in that circuit would be bled with the intention of having the band off at the 1-2 shift.

I don't know that every one he built was like that. 727 Specialist is a regular here. If anyone knows, he should. As well as knowing how to identify them.

Regardless, I would NOT use an OE drum.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I have a G20B Griner I just replaced with another griner that is clean neutral, both from727 specialist.

Keith at 727 specialists can for sure help with the Griner bodies. I think he said he owns the rights to produce them.

there was a Griner test car that ran at Muncie Dragway for a long time. Since the 80's when I first started going there. I always wondered if that was the guy who is on here all the time. Birdtracker

Bill Shipman's car used to say Griner test vehicle on it. That was the first 727 trans brake I ever saw that worked. He also had the first set of Zeeker aluminum heads I ever saw. THat car left on the bumper most of the time.

thats the car, I also help a friend of mine out running a quick 8 car. We were there one night at Muncie. It was hotter than all get out. We ended up winning that night but worked on the car between rounds thrashing to make it. We were told Bill had a scrape with the wall but never got a chance to go see. Birdtracker
