For the big city people, is the lockdown helping with the smog in your area? I was wondering if California guys are seeing any change?

I read an article yesterday that said the air quality had improved in many metro areas (inside and outside ca).
Where we live, we enjoy very clean air, perennially near the top of the list and have not noticed a change.

I saw an article that had before and after maps of NO2 levels, and the change was pretty dramatic in some urban areas.

edit: found it

Living in Silicon Valley for 50 years and the traffic has died down to the point of it looking like how it was in the late 70's. When my GPS says I arrive there in 17 min, and get there in 15 min due to lack of traffic, it's kinda nice. When going to work, it's no longer 2-3 hours in morning/evening traffic. Just 18 minutes now. The air does seem much clearer out here, but it's been raining so will have to see how it goes later in the year on how much it impacted air quality.

Is the sediment natural or man made toxic?

Reminds me of the current Florida Iguana invasion. They don't tolerate cold weather, often fatal but also paralyzing them to the point they simply fall out of the trees. So after a cold snap the iguana population is much reduced. However there is no official effort when the numbers are reduced, to state wide eradicate them, sadly. The ones that survive are more tolerant of future cold snaps, thru natural selection.

Same possibility here in Venice, if they want to reduce the sediment/sludge, this would be a good time before all the gondolas go fully active I would think.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I have not been to LA for a while, but I can tell you that the air is considerably cleaner in recent years than it was in the 1970s. More people, more cars and the air is cleaner. I believe there is less real industry and the cars are cleaner. The Bay Area never has had a smog problem as they export theirs to the central valley (yes, this is true). The natural breezes blow the Bay Area smog over the Altamont pass and down the valley where it settles in Bakersfield...
