Hello! If I were to find a car in a barn, besides the VIN, what are things unique to hemi R/Ts, please?
Asking for a friend...

Did they use an 8 3/4? We’re power brakes an option?

Thanks

Well I know 66 hemi cars had the starter relay mounted on the drivers front fender near the battery instead of the firewall. Not sure if they used a skid plate on the K-frame in 67 or not. shruggy

Yes power brakes and power disc available. Dana for 4 speed, but that was not hemi specific as 440 had them also. Hemi Emblems, believe torque boxes, and hemi type k-frame mounts. Vin for sure.

All 1967 B-Body power disc brakes used the offset "Hemi" booster. If you got the Hemi with the Torqueflite, you got manual drum brakes and an 8 3/4. If you went with the 4-sp, power front discs and the Dana were mandatory options. As to Hemi only, yes, torque boxes and the Hemi K-frame were necessary. 3/8" fuel lines rather than 5/16". The item most overlooked in a clone or an imposter is the plate welded to the rear floor pan that the pinion snubber contacts.

Thank you. What is specific about the Hemi K frame, please? Aren’t the block mounting points similar on all RB motors? Maybe skid plate or something?

Hemi motor mounts different then other RB. Hence K frame brackets unique to hemi.

Hemi doesn't use the B/RB mount bracket style that bolts to ears on the block. Totally different arrangement that bolts to the sides of the block. Google some pictures and the difference is obvious.

Gtx6070 you’re correct. Disc brakes are an option, period. They are not standard on any 1967 B-body.

Where does this stuff come from?

From Chrysler Literature. The 67 Dealer data book for the Coronet, under the safety features, specified that power Disc brakes were mandatory for the 426 hemi option with Manual 4 speed. Whether that literature is wrong or not, I do not know. But it is in print from Chrysler.

Well, I'll admit . I dont know the earlier cars like I do with 68-70
But on them the only way disc brakes were standard on manual trans cars ( hemi or not ) was if the 4.10 dana axle was selected ,,,,aka Super Track Pak pkg

A buddy of mine parted out a burnt 1966 Coronet 500 , Hemi 4 spd and the best I remember it had drum brakes . But the car had a 3.54 dana in it.

I have an original 1967 Plymouth salesman's book, that is what my comment is based on. And no, I never said that disc brakes with a 4-spd were "standard", I used the term the book uses "mandatory option". If it comes down to it I'll scan that page out of the book.

No 4.10 option in 67. Just the 3.54.

One easy check would be a J for the engine code on the vin. If the car came with an automatic it also got a transmission cooler just ahead of the radiator on the driver’s side.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. The front end is missing on the car but the k member and offset booster are there.
The VIN is also intact but the car has an 8 3/4 under it. I am thinking maybe the Dana could have been scavenged at some point, and this is to keep it rolling.

If your in the southern Ohio area and the car is blue on one side and red primer on the other, it used to be mine.

Unfortunately a fender tag on a '67 doesn't guarantee that the car is genuine. As there is no VIN on a '67 fender tag, it could have come from another car.
