So, Resto Rick sells both aerosol cosmoline and a paint imitation. Note discussion about coloring.

"Quasimoline Paint

Urethane paint formulated to closely mimic the original cosmoline finish used on Mopar lower control arms. This is an ideal product for those wanting a durable finish that can be wiped clean and not hold dirt like the real thing. Dries to a satin gloss. Darkness & coloring will vary with number of coats applied and color of control arm. Thin with a urethane reducer, no hardener required. Sold in a half pint can for use with a spray gun. One can will easily do two sets of control arms, depending on application thickness. Can also be used to accentuate the coloring of some cast iron parts. $24"

I used Rick's Quasimoline and liked how it came out. After getting the coverage I wanted, I over-reduced it and hung a couple of runs on the pieces (hanging vertically of course) for good measure.

On my 70 sport satellite, I cleaned up the lca and then used RPM on them. Let them dry real good, then used real cosmoline on them . . . So even if cosmoline comes off, then the RPM can protect . .

It's a match to the original coating. Aside from lighting & photo differences, the number of coats, viscosity of the paint & color of the metal or "metal-look" coating under it will all effect the final color.
Most people tend to put on too much.

Be careful when using NOS parts for correct production line details, they often had different finishes as compared to production.

This is an example of the krlyon battery spray.....

if sprayed heavier to make runs you can get a darker/redish end result

Hi Ron,

I have a question about the blue and red paint on the LCA pivoting height adjusters tips. The info would be nice additional info to the pictures posted. Or, just give me a call.

here are mine. I bought the paint. from Resto Rick. it works very well. I like the likeness to the cosmoiline, and it's more durable. I may try cosmoiline next time., but want to drive this car.
