Ive googled this a ton and didnt get a clear answer. Will a RPM intake fit on a 383 in a 68 Charger with the stock unsilenced air cleaner without a drop base? No hood pad.... Car is apart so I cant do the hood and play dough trick.

Ok. Should fit with a 383 vs 440

Not the exact same but, I fit one under the hood of my 69 Road Runner with the stock un-silenced air cleaner housing but, I did have to put a shorter filter in it to make it work. Even with the shorter filter, it was close. I never slammed the hood due to fear of outtie dents; I would close it and push down to ensure it was latched. Never had an issue though.

Although you mentioned not using one, I later put a drop base in and used the stock filter size.

Even later than that, I switched to a DP4B intake and use all the stock stuff now. The DP4B is about 3/4" higher than the factory intake which, will go back on the car at some point.

I'm interested in the FAST class so; I've slowly been shooting myself in the foot performance wise. I've just been curious to see the effects of the changes and have been doing them in steps backwards.

It fits in my 67 Belvedere low block with the flat hood but I do have to use drop base air cleaner.

This is for a 67 Charger, but must be similar...

Thanks for the info. No big deal but surprised a drop base is needed on the 383. 440 must be so much worse.
