Years ago - around 1978, I was looking at a local 440-6 Cuda 4-speed & took it for a ride. Not fun rowing through the gears on that one! [/quote]

Bro.....
Not an E Body but it is a 440-6
This is Fun to me...…

Wellllll - I pulled up in my 1970 340 4-speed Cuda, then drove the 440-6 Cuda. Mine was way more fun to drive - same thing they said in the original article. I knew what they meant. I remember when shifting the 440-6 hard from 1-2 shift, the Dana 60 just did a BOOM, instead of a nice chirp like mine would do. I just liked the automatic better in 440-6 & Hemi cars. I had a 71 Hemi Charger for 4 years & loved the automatic & 8-3/4 combo - never broke anything or had to ever do any drivetrain work. I can imagine the 4-speed trans & clutch work you'd have to do every few years if you drove it fairly hard. I had to have 2 clutches & two trans rebuilds in my old 340 Cuda back in the 70's, plus I could tear-up motor mounts quick if I drove it hard, which I did fairly often.

Now on a 340, I'd take a 4-speed every time.

That's why they invented solid motor mounts. whistling

Man, that thing is %*#%&** beat to hell.

Original paint with some mild oxidation and road chips is fine. That is way too far gone cosmetic wise. Keeping that without a repaint would not be an option for me.

All those pics and no undercarriage pics??? Considering what a hi-zoot car it is, it actually looks pretty solid, for a restoration project of course.
$50k would go a long way on that car, $75k might get her done.

Oh
I agree the 340-4speed is a great combo on the E Body
(really miss this car)
I just prefer a manual over an auto for the fun factor.
