Looking to buy a clean 1991 W150 318/A518 truck, got to looking around to see what parts are available as this will be a daily driver about 5 months out of the year or more, after about 2 hours of internet searching, I could not find a replacement throttle valve/kickdown cable!! I'm thinking this would be a pretty useful spare to have around, the factory cable is discontinued, and I cannot find an aftermarket cable at any parts stores. This is a bone-stock 318 TBI truck, and I also have a 1990 Ramcharger 360/a518 so it is kind of worrying me that I can't find any replacement cables, if one breaks, I'm screwed! I have the Bouchillon kit on my 1985 D150 carb/727 combo, but don't know if that cable is the same or not, I am having trouble getting a reply from them, plus they list their replacement cable as no longer available! Even if the cable is the same, I really don't want to spend $170 for the kit just to have a spare cable !!! I can't believe that this cable is not available ANYWHERE???!!! If anybody could point me in the right direction, I would be super grateful! I hate to think a $40 cable could put my trucks out of commission!!! Or does a cable from a newer vehicle work? (magnum powered trucks /hemi /anything???)

I don't think I have ever broken a kickdown cable. Not something that happens very often.

I haven't either, but if it does happen, a spare in the garage would sure be nice, especially if they are hard/impossible to find in the parts stores! I worry about stuff like that.

go to mopar parts giant and type in your info, including vin or go to dealer with last 8 of your vin. have them give you a part number and they can also see if it is avail from vintage parts. if not avail, google search number or cross it at your parts store. i looked at mpg and it shows a 91 w150 to have old style kickdown rod. i have a 91 318 tbi w/518 od that i will look at this pm when it quits raining some. hope this helps.

Thanks!, maybe someone changed to a newer setup, looking at the truck again today,maybe I can get a # of the cable that's in there, who knows what's been done in 30 years!

i just dodged the rain drops and looked at mine. it is the old style metal kickdown rods. mine is 318 tbi with 2 wire 518. it has no lockup tc. not sure what you have. but the accel cables are still avail. hope this helps.
