anyone here have a pic of there ladder bar set up? i believe i have to go to a coil over set up to do this which means i remove the leaf springs, but i don't understand what holds the rear end in the car without the leaf springs.
The coil over shock holds the body up. The coil spring is pushing on both ends of the shock causing it to extend, if you have the correct spring weight on the shock it will compress the shock to its designed length

If you're using a stock axle and I assume a stock floor pan you'll need to look for a fairly short coil over shock and fab up a mount if you want to keep it all under the trunk. I've done the mini tub ladder bar set up before and honestly it was more work than just doing a full back half.
You dont need to go to a short shock... lower the mount on the axle, if you want you can go as low as the bottom of the ladder bar mount, if you go that low move the shock back a little more for the added movement in the longer bracket(rotational).

It is ALOT more work, but I have at least 6" of height adjustabilty w/16" coilovers and it all fits under the stock floor, sort of. I can even install the back seat if I need to. It works really well so I'd say I'd probably do it again.'68 Coronet...
