Anyone have a recommendation on a brand rebuild kit for a Carter AVS (4738 - 440 w/ 4-Barrel)?

I use Mike’s carburetor. 888-689-9758. I have had no problems with his kit. It’s good quality.

I have used the Hygrade kits from Rockauto with no problem. I'm not sure how they compare
to other kits out there.

Funny you should ask:
Just bought this:
https://www.amazon.com/Standard-Mot...;psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_tab_ap_asin_title

I've used the Hygrade kits since the 80s.
Never any problem. These are the kits that have stood the test of time.
This is probably the 20th kit I've done over the years. Amazon has the best price on this and the fastest delivery if you can't find it locally. NAPA used to carry these back in the day....but find a NAPA these days...lol.

There's lots of tips for rebuilding but my favorite is to spray the cardboard gasket for the lid to main body with cooking oil. It won't stick if you have to take the top off and the cooking oil is harmless. I generally hit all the gaskets with cooking spray. But the main body gasket is the most important.

Enjoy!
CC.

Ahhh the old days of walking onto the store and buying a Jiffy Hygrade carb kit. Counterperson would say "Dont forget a new float and possibly an electric choke conversion kit." (NAPA all thru the 80s stocked them all)

Keep old mopars alive.
