....or is the OEM stuff the only option?

I’ve got an iPhone 6 and have bought two diff cable sets off eBay and they work for awhile but then the contact on the phone cord going into the phone loses the connection.... I then put my old Apple cord on it ....

No problem BUT the insulation is pulling away on that cord ...

Lol ya I heard that too. My iPhone 6 Plus is probably well over five years old and on its first original battery. I’m actually plugged into one right now in the shop. I have them in my shop, motorhome, house, and race car trailer. Spent your money how you choose

I have an iphone 8+. I bought a pair of braided cords off amazon not long after I got my phone and they have been great. I can't find the exact cords I bought in my purchase history, but these look the most like what I have.

I bought the 6 foot cord for a number of reasons. It's been more helpful than a hinder having that much cord.

One cord stays home, but the other gets used (and abused) out and about. In two years, I have never had an issue with the end fraying like you show, or any connection issues. One thing the braided cord has over the factory cord is the plug end for the phone is a slightly smaller diameter so it works better with my Otter Box case.

I have been very happy with Amazon's house brand for chargers and cords.

I assume apple products have fast charging? You'll need OEM cords for that - at least my S6 did and S9 does and they aren't cheap to replace as I lost the S6 one and had to buy new. If you just need a regular phone charge cable just grab one from one of those phone accessory stores that are littered throughout every mall.

Word of caution do not buy any apple charge cords or headphones off eBay. They are a great price and hard to tell from the real deal including the packaging but 100% counterfeit and never last long. Anymore Im very leary about ebay purchases. They need to get a handle on the fraud

Other than OEM, I only use Anker or Monoprice cords.

For me oem or anker, but I bought a 4 pack of Milink brand for like 5 bucks and they have been perfect for fast charge.

I use the monoprice brand for the most part. They are cheaper and lifetime warranty. I use the android (USB-C I think) version and an android to Apple connector. The cord is what seems to need replacing more. I figure the adapter pays for itself after one cord replacement. Android cords are way cheaper than Apple.

I use my oem cable and have for years.

I put a small piece of heat shrink tubing where the cord meets the plug since that area gets a lot of wear and tear and that is where they always seem to fail. Works for me!

I used heat shrink as well. The only kind I had was the marine version (the glue inside that oozes out) and not the cords are wearing just under the shrink tubing.
