Picked up a g-meter for my Duster project. The Duster is more of a pro street car than a g machine but figured I'd give it a try. Had we converted Tim's red brick to EFI this g meter would've been one of the first things for us to install. Cool technology. Just take it out of the box and plug it into the EFI system and bingo, you have X and Y acceleration data logged into the ECU.

hey andy cool product! My question is how would you use the data for autox? New to the technology so I'm not really sure how to turn this into useable data....teach me!

What sample record rate on the G meter?

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Sample rate is a variable in the Holley system. You can sample up to 100 times a second but the data files get really big. I usually set the system up to sample at 20 times a second. That works pretty well for drag racing. When I set up a drag car I have the data logger turn on once the throttle position is greater than 80% and then it turns off after 20 seconds. That usually captures the burnout and the pass. Autocrossing would probably require a different trigger and perhaps a different data rate and length.

I had a bracket made to mount the g meter sensor to the roll bar. The bracket looks nice and is super solid.

I wonder how results are impacted by the sensors location on the chassis, seems in a somewhat central location, as pictured, measuring any yaw reaction would be difficult, vs say over rear axle, and this point is more in the frame of autocross/RR vs 1/4 mile.
