Ready to pull the trigger on some Trick Flow 240 Heads. Will be using hyd roller lifters. Lift will be under .600. The choice is between the heads with 7 degree retainers with 1.460 dia springs and the other has 10 degree retainers with 1.550 springs. My question is if using the Comp Ultra Pro magnum roller rockers, which would be the better choice? Is the difference between the spring diameter and retainer degrees an issue.

What you want to look at is the spring pressure and compare that to what your cam grinder recommends.

For the 2019 season I ran the Comp 943-16 1.55 dia. springs with no issues on eddy rpm heads and Comp ultra pro magnum rockers. The cam is a 275 @ .050, .650ish lift solid roller. Comp specifies they are good up to 1.54 max dia.spring but so far so good. Removed and inspected them this winter and all seems good. Spring pressure is aprox. 240 lbs @ 1.95 and 600 over the nose. Very satisfied with these rockers. Around 100 passes so far and shafts, rockers, everything look like new. Also, this is with 10 degree tool steel retainers. Not the same as your setup but maybe could be of some help. See what spring is recommended for the cam you chose and like Andy said go from there.

Great advise. I was concerned with the diameter of the Trick Flow head springs being 1.55 and the comp ultra pro max dia spring usage for their rockers being 1.540.
