That would be a really nice truck once you remove the cap and bug shield. $4k? How can you go wrong?

The theme song from Deliverance started playing in my head and I was reminded of the line from that movie "He got a pretty mouth" when I saw the line in the ad about getting a bonus belt buckle. nervous

Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

Agreed, But by the time I have it here, ( loosing the cap and bug screen enroute )
I'm guessing $1000 bucks to ship it, on top of travel expenses there and back to ck it out . Then fix the mismatched fender color . Then I need to add A/C for a daily driver in AZ . Puts it above budget for a truck , at least to me. Plus the color combination is ok, just not top of my list
If it were maybe a few hours away, I would probably go take a look.

I just missed a clean black with red interior 1980 D150 in Phoenix for $5k, and it had working factory air. I missed it by a few hours

I live in the valley of rust free , and am in no hurry . So Im ok. But its tempting

Well, for giggles I asked about the truck
Asked why the left front fender color was so off compared to the rest of the truck and asked if any concerns to fly up and drive it back to AZ.

His reply is
Quote
Front end was replaced by the original owner in the 80’s. I’m the third owner previous owner is a huge MOPAR guy.

There’s no way I’m driving this thing to AZ!

He didn't give me a reason as to why for either. So I can only assume its been wrecked.??????? and he doesn't trust it to drive very far, ,,,,OR may just be it sucks gas,,,and it probably does.
In all honesty, I would actually prefer a 1979 and newer D100 - D150 anyway. for the smooth hood and better grills.
Like I said , if it were closer I would probably go take a look with cash. Mainly because it looks clean and is a club cab 2wd. And Although I think I could live with the color combination,,,its far from my ideal color choice.

The No A/C and Logistics in this case is the enemy. Either way, I'm out

Yup...gotta remember this truck is over 40 years old, and it's not going to drive or run like a brand new Ram series 1500.... twocents

Have you ever heard the term “know your audience” and how it applies to what you say?

No sense of adventure. Lol

Seriously, he's a CL flipper and I'd bet if you locked him and the truck in a room for an hour, the truck could tell you more about him than he could tell you about the truck.

If it will back out of the driveway and shift 1 2 3 and drive without any drama on a 10 mile test drive, it has no less chance of making it to AZ than any other self propelled machine does. I've driven a lot worse a lot farther.

Oh, I am well aware of that. Thats a decision I have to make. Buy something like this that has style and character ( so to speak ) Or buy something much much newer with similar miles but more creature comforts yet blends in with every other truck on the road

I plan to retire in the next 2 years so I dont really need modern conveniences and it will not be a 'daily driver' so to speak for very long.
But costs to get it here and add AC on top of that puts it out for me personally. I figure about $1000-1500 in expenses to fly up , take a look and have it shipped ( or MAYBE drive it home ) then add another $1000 for AC . On top of fixing any unknowns that WILL pop up Im sure of
Im already in a deal to buy and have shipped a 50 years old car, So to do the exact same thing with a 40 year old truck doesnt sound like near as much fun

If it were closer I'd buy it barring some serious issue. Install AC and it would make an ideal DD for me. I like the 77-8 grilles best with the 74-6 next.

Looks like he went to the "Old man mart" and bought several of their cheesy accessories. Headlight screens, hood air deflector, camper shell, door window visors, step pads, etc.
Great looking truck otherwise. I like the grille of the 77 and 78 models.

Driver's front fender paint doesn't match so at least some of it has been painted

It may not ride like a new truck, but it's a REAL truck.
