When I did the swap had to get the shaft shortened, get the 60 installed & see if the old shaft fits, if not measure & get it fixed.

If rear ends are installed in the same location your drive shaft will have to be shorten.

Is the pinion stem at the same vertical height?
The Ford 9" is lower, affects the angle.

Yes it will weigh more but it will not slow your car down because of the increased efficiency.

IIRC a test was run with an 8-3/4 vs. 60, and the ET was really close. The extra efficiency almost exactly made up for the extra 75 lb. weight gain.
IDR anything easy that saves weight on the Dana, though. Smaller brakes?

Although I don't have the weights in front of me, going with a spool should be worth something.

Going from a locker/suregrip to a spool in a Dana is worth something like 20 lbs. Might be more than that actually.

All else being equal, a 35 spline S-60 with a traction differential is 50 lbs heavier than a 30 spline 8 3/4" with a traction differential.

The weight that was lifted from my shoulders on my S60 over the 8.75 that was in the car was much higher than 50lb! laugh2

Set it.... and forget it!
