I am going with the Hoosier Drag Slicks Soft Compound D05 32 x 14-15

Or should I go with the 32 x 14.5-15 (W,S) W = Wide and S= Stiff Sidewall

Would you guys run the Stiff Sidewall?

I have been running 12-14lbs of air with my 31-inch Hoosier D05 Slicks

Thanks, Chip

My setup is similar. 3150 with me, Duster, back halfed ladder bar 727 Dana 4.56 but I only have a 1.45-1.47 60ft. I've ran M/T 29.5x13.5 for years but tried Hoosiers 31x14 on my last set of tires as I wanted to go to a taller tire. I've always ran tubes just seems my car works better with them and it allows the sidewalls to last longer. I need a new set and will be switching back to M/T just a personal preference. If I were you I'd go with the stiffer sidewall.

My car, 1970 Cuda S/P car that weighs right at 2800 Lbs. with me in it had a set of old Goodyear 16x33x15 on it when I bought it mounted on 15 inch wide rims, those 8 yr old tires like between 7.0 and 9.5 lbs. pressure depending on the track, 1.27 to 1.34 60 ft. times.
I put a new et of M/T 14x32x14 stiff walls on the car and they liked from 7.0 to 9.5 lbs. also. My car is nose heavy, 56.4 % (1479Lbs. on the front and 1230.Lbs on the rear tires with me in the car)on the front tires and those tires work okay. I changed them last year to a set of Hoosier 13.5x32x15 D06 slicks per Hoosier recommendations and they liked between 7.5 to 9.0Lbs pressure but they don't always stick well with out a long burn out down
I'm going to change them to a new set of Hoosier part # 18370 DO6 15x33x15 and hope they wok better than the smaller ones did luck
I have thought about buying a set of Goodyears instead of the M/T or Hoosiers but I'm going to try the Hoosiers one more times and hope they work better than the other ones did work
On your deal I would try lower pressure, 1/2 lb. at a time, and see if the reaction times and 60 ft. times get better scope twocents

Funny this came up, been thinking of getting a new set of slicks for the Challenger as I may race it as a back up car from time to time with the the Road Runner being back. That being said it is about the same as Cab's car, 2700# with me in it 1.28 60' but with my motor set back I am very close to 50/50. I have ran Good Year 33x15x15's 2078's since '2003 on it except once when I went with the Hoosier 32.5x14.5x 15 and that tire was all over the place sometimes it would dead hook with the wheels 2 feet in the air the next time front almost on the ground and some spin so tough to dial...... GY's always 60' like a xerox machine but cost $60 more. FWIW I am always at 8# of air and no less than 7.5, at 9# it is way inconsistent with the GY. So subscribed, my .02
That all said I have been thinking of trying one of the M/T in something around 32.5x15x15 ....

When considering slicks these days, I think it would be foolish to not at least consider a radial. M/T makes both a PBR and PDR in a 32x14/15. While I only 60 in 1.56, The PBR has been undeniably a better tire than the ET Drags I had on the car before. I have a buddy that 60’s low 1.4x’s off a transbrake; he also loves his PBR’s.

If your track preps decent, then I'd look into a radial.

I haven't seen a car that didn't go faster w/ a stiff sidewall slick compared to a standard sidewall. Granted, every time I've seen this done it was on a car faster than a 1.4 sixty foot.
It was my understanding from years ago that a "W" tire had the same stiff sidewall...in a M/T anyway.

Would love to go to a radial but, I take it you are tubeless, which I like and no worry about re-installing the rim screws? If I normally run a big tire like 33-15-15 and run 8lbs were would I start on a radial?
Really want to do a radial but don't have time for a few months of trial & error as this car really would be a back up. When I changed from 29x10.5x15's on my road runner to 30x9x15 radials (hoosiers) I did just that no tubes , no rim screws, 11lbs of air to 17-18 lbs of air and picked up 3/10's in the process. Would love to hear those that changed to radials there experiences.

Thanks, Keith

What Cab said is exactly right. Everyone warned me about them, but I had to learn the hard way. When ever I was on a good prepped track, they worked great, but if if your on a fair to mediocre track,it was hit or miss.(mostly miss)
