if you ask me $10K might be little low. but for the info i have now it's about right.
after a GOOD inspection maybe higher. there are a LOT of unknowns.
i would look at it this way. $10K buys you a ticket to the dance. but it will cost you another $15K to dance with the hot number across the room.

it will cost you $15K to get it back on the road, if you can do most everything yourself. if you have some good connections on parts deals maybe less. after a good going thru you might find some surprises so it could be more $$.

so in all reality it will cost not $10k but $25K to buy this DRIVING car that still will need a lot of attention to make it nice, depending on how it cleans up. from my experience that dull finish on the fender in the pic, isn't going to clean up with just a buff. this car probably had the sides repainted, that's why the stripe is gone. and it will need a repaint. is it really a smoking deal now?

It is & was probably used for the alcohol or water injection, maybe connected to that funky knob by the E/brake.

[quote=cdstl]So now it will be a search for VINs. Engine, Trans and body. I'm used to A and E body.

I can find the VIN on the trans. Is the engine on passenger side rail just above the oil pan? I know that the 69 charger had one on the driver side trunk lip under the weather strip.

Is there another on the radiator support.

Eng. vin on r/side oil pan rail & pad by distributor should have G 440 HP & assembly date close to door sticker month/year, Partial vin# on rad support/cowl by fresh air intake vent & trunk seal channel.

P/S & no P/Brakes the opposite of mine, It would interesting to see if the vin# is close to mine.

there should be a VIN # on the plate directly above the wiper motor. there is a weatherstrip clipped to it. the vin might be under the weatherstrip.
there will be a vin # on the radiator support.

no vin on the trunk.rail under the weatherstrip.

A lot of years have passed, so I wonder if that driver's kick panel could have been swapped out at some point, for whatever reason....who knows after almost 50 years.

Could the factory stripe have been removed without paint damage if owner didn't like it?

I have 2 B-5 Blue interior cars a 71 and a 72 that is an original panel that was sun faded just like the original door panel has faded under the armrest..

i THINK they stopped stamping the vin under the trunk W/strip in 1970 on ALL CARS.

i know there are no vins under the w/strip on E bodies and B bodies. anything else is just a guess.

No idea on the canister.

I'd check the engine parts carefully, look at all casting numbers, especially if the original engine is important to you.

And a Carter carb? I think many were Holleys in '71.

looks like manual brakes, drums up front?

Thanks for sharing this very cool car with us, last year for pure GTX!

Good luck!

1970 B body cars still have the VIN numbers stamped under the trunk weather strip on the drivers side, just like 1969 cars do.

Going over in the morning. I would imagine that everything is there from the factory. I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but these folks owned a Dodge dealership and this was one of their toys.

Can't wait.

Looks like a great GTX.....hope you get it. Looking forward to seeing it washed.

As for the last pic of the ‘72, six-way seat on passenger side? Do tell.

i cut apart a drivers side 6 way seat adjuster. flipped the important parts over and welded everything back together.
i did this 15 years ago, so my memory isn't perfect. i do remember flipping and welding the round coil spring in the rear was the hardest part.

it also helped to have a complete 6 way adjuster next to my conversion to compare things..

Ok, finally got to go see the car. I met the owner briefly. Evidently he does business in the Far East and he was on the phone with them so he just left me alone with the car, and the kid who is a family friend of his. That was fine because it gave me plenty of time to look things over.

Numbers matching engine and the Dana are there. I couldn't get the car high enough to check the VIN on the trans so, judging by the car, I'm going to assume that it's the matching trans as well. Torque boxes, clutch and brakes are free and the transmission shifts ok. I didn't get to see the trunk floor yet because the owner didn't bring me a key.

It has had rust repair and been repainted a darker color of blue. Door bottoms and rockers are good, some bondo behind the rear wheel wells. It was last licensed in 1981 and no price has been discussed yet.

It would have been cooler to have the original paint, but what are you going to do. My plan all along was to clean and reuse as much of the car as I could. Rebuild a different motor, probably a stroker, throw some Day 2 mods at it and then drive the hell out of it. I'm going to leave the faded, mice eaten beast just the way that she is but she will be fast and reliable.

But first, I need to buy it. I'll try to get a video up somehow.
