People will tell you to use an ad blocker. I do and it works quite well. I only visit on my computer though.

There’s been a couple threads about this.

I understand the need for revenue to keep the board going, but this is nearing intolerable, especially on a phone...

The only thing more persistent and annoying than the ads, are the constant flow of new threads being posted about the ads.

Well, they keep deleting/locking the old threads so people keep posting about it.

Maybe a sticky at the top would help.

That would make the advertisers mad then. They are paying to annoy us with these adds and then Tom tells us how to block them! That’s sort of like...... Well I better not say that. It’s one of the banned topics. But it was a good one. Lol!
Bottom line is I use add blocker plus. It stops the mess.

Bottom line for me is I’ve gone from participating in the forums a few times a week to a couple times a month tops. Now there are some here who might see that as a good thing, but I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Ad blocker doesn’t help me because when I’m at a computer, I’m typically working. I check message boards/social media on my phone when I have a few minutes of free time away from my desk....like right now while I’m waiting at the dealership for our truck to get serviced.

This place is hostile to those who wish to access it from a phone or tablet.

It’s the new norm. Given we don’t pay anything to use the site it’s tolerable. Tom has to pay the bills

Well as I said earlier, I acknowledge & accept the need for advertising revenue to keep the place alive.....but when it becomes so obnoxious that the experience is no longer enjoyable.... shruggy

Tolerance levels vary from person to person depending on many factors. Having a pop - up ad take over the entire screen of my phone & fight with me when I try to close it as I'm trying to reply to a thread is outside of mine.

But who knows? Maybe the ownership's goal is to reduce traffic here. After all these years, the added work load may not be worth it to them anymore.

Ad blocker on my main machine. I have a low tolerance for being bothered by this crap. When a site requires me to take the ad blocker down to use it, I move on. I only use my phone for minor things; check the weather, email, etc. End up being pi$$ed off to try to do anymore than that.

Scammers are not happy if they manage to get me on the phone. Old guys who grew up not being "connected" can become agitated with all of the foolishness.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Participating members are the site, paying with their knowledge. Without this knowledge, there is no traffic, and is noone to advertise to.

It's a partnership. No ads, the partnership overly benefits the members. Excessive ads, the partnership overly benefits the host. It's up to you to decide where that balance point is fair.

I'm sure the excessive ads have caused quite a few to stop sharing their knowledge.

To get rid of the Infolinks crap on your phone temporarily, just click on it and scroll down to the bottom where it will ask if you'd like more abuse, set up your own account to abuse others or opt out. Click opt out and your good for a week, rinse repeat. It's no more trouble than having to log back in here every week or two because the system boots you out.

Right ... whistling

That is Tom's Secret Plan .... scope

The very fact that Google is advertising here shows the high regard for this website that advertisers have.

I have been a Moparts Sponsor going on (10) years now.

But the Sponsors probably don't collectively contribute the money to keep this site running.

They're killing the goose that laid the golden eggs. That's obvious from the postings, or lack thereof, here.

The for x bodies only sites have far superior software and much less obnoxious ads. 2¢
