Thanks in advance

The metal tag should have a part no on it.

I hate to disagree with you but I’ve got three NOS boosters like that and they have 71 part no on them. My sons late 71 looks like that.

well I really don't know what the wheel from your junk cuda has to do with an e body booster , but I can tell you that out of four 71 cuda's I have had or still have came with a booster the same as the 1970 booster and the that I have seen similar to the one pictured belonged to the 72-73 and I assume 74 cuda's . I have not worked on any 74's that I can remember , however had many of 70-73 in shop over the years. but don't really care to argue about it , just my past experience thought could help the guy out. good luck

You might both be right. My ‘71 Challenger has a Bendix booster on it same as 70s used, and after I bought the car thought maybe it was wrong and should be the plated style, which is a Kelsey Hayes if my fading memory is correct.
During my research I was told that both styles were used in ‘71 and it seems like there was a transition during the model year. A later build ‘71 E body most likely have the Kelsey Hayes and early builds would have Bendix boosters. My car was built in October so Bendix should be OK. I have no idea when the transition occurred but maybe someone has a better idea.
Lots of changes were made during the 71 model year and it’s interesting trying to document all the differences between early build cars and later build 71s.

I have/had three late 71 Challengers and they all had the plated KH booster

This is a Midland Ross single piston booster which started in 71 for B/E models. Have had several 71 E bodies with it.

to be fair to the OP Imo with all opinions including mine, this thread is probably leaving you in a confused state , the best case scenario for the OP is most likely to look at his build date and split the difference if your SPD is before Feb 28 th go with the 70 version (Bendix Booster) and after go with the 72 -74 type (Midland Ross) ,or view as many unrestored 71 ebodies as possible check build dates and make his choice. with so many undocumented opinions it would be difficult to make the correct choice.

That is a Bendix for 71-2 B+E cars. Same in my 71 Bee with tag and date code.

The Bendix booster was used up to around the end of February or early March sometime. The Midland Ross booster was used after that point and through the end of the 71 model year run. I have seen earlier 71 B body's with the Midland Ross booster.

Bendix are black with a twist together housing. MR have a band holding the two halves together..
By 71 Bendix was pretty much done making boosters but the stock lingered. Probably pretty safe to say that early 71 E's had a Bendix and later ones had a Midland. I have a 74 B with a Mopar replacement Bendix booster.

Lol. I don’t have a clue why I put this in the wrong thread.

However, back to the topic at hand. I would imagine that the parts changeover from 70 to 71 was varied. The 71 challenger RT that my son has was built in 5/71 (per door sticker). It has the midland ross.
I have the brakes from a 71 barracuda and it has the same booster dated 173 0. The build date per build sheet is 8-14. It also had the 70 model seats with the pot metal hinge covers and the wide mouth calipers dated 048 0 and 055 0. I’m pretty sure these parts were original and installed on the car from the factory. I parted the car out in the mid 70’s.

The NOS boosters I have the part no 3461360 and is dated on the tag 025 0. It’s listed for 71 b and e in the parts book. The other two I have are two of the original three I bought all the same. They are still boxed in Mopar boxes part no 3579272 listed to fit all b and e, 71, except 426. The are also listed to fit 1971 340 w/3-2 Carb. A additional boosters are listed for a 70 model 340 w 3-2 Carb and all other engines expect Hemi. The date tags for these boosters are 299-1 and 074-2. They may be good numbers for 72 up cars but I don’t have the book for that.
Mopar used what they to get cars out the door and people changed stuff through the years on these cars. These NOS booster are made to fit a car that never existed and both have a special note in the box the change the check valve if used on a TA car.

Mark, I have not seen that tag before.

If you can scan it, can you email it to me please?

Ok. I’ll look in the other box. It has one, too. It may be in better shape. I bought three of those boosters back when mopar was dumping parts in the bail out. I wish I had ordered the check valve at the time. I never installed them on my AAR because they did not look the same and mine still works.
