No response from switch at all

New coil... old original switch

Hooked up vacuum line to intake and tested at actuator... opens and closes fine

Switch....? YO or Classic Indus....??

I would listen for a vacuum leak with a stethoscope before doing anything else.

I once made my own switch, using parts for an industrial control vacuum system. There was no good source for good switches then. I bought one and it was cheaply made and I broke it somehow. The next time I used a big brass block of a switch up under the dash.

I would suspect the solenoid (even if new) over the switch. have you tried to bypass it leaving the switch in place.

Yes.....pretty sure the door will open and "stay open" after you shut off the engine. It will likely close after a little while versus immediate close with solenoid in place.

Thanks! So just pull the lines off the solenoid..and connect them together right... with a vacuum fitting...?

I had an issue on a 70 RR air grabber system and it turned out to be the switch. After taking it apart, it had allot of black debris in it and clocked the passages inside. Wound up replacing switch, problem solved . The old switch didn't react well to carb cleaner, but denatured alcohol might work.
