does anyone know anything about NP 4speed overdrive transmissions used in mid/late 80's - early 90's GM pickups ?
if so, were these the same transmissions used in dodge pickups ?
similar but different case to bellhousing bolt patterns ?
same or different output shaft spline count ?

my one buddy was talking about a transmission another guy had, and said it was a new process 4spd overdrive out of a chevy pickup.
anyone have anything on this animal ?
as always, TIA ! boogie

The New Venture 4500 was used in GM trucks. There are differences though. I know the input shaft is shorter and some may have different ratios. A google search on the NV 4500 will turn up quite a bit of information on them.

From what I've heard, yes the 833od was available in 80s gm trucks with a diesel. I saw a photo of one and it appeared to have a transfer case adapter on it.

Id imagine splines are typical GM stuff.

Its not that surprising really, New Process sold lots of stuff to everyone.

If it's a 5 speed overdrive then its likely the NV4500. This has a granny first gear, not something you want to put in anything but a truck.
