Like the title says, whats your best time with stamped rocker arms and hyd cam ? I'm sure plenty have been in the 12s and 11s, but anybody in the 10s or better?

If that is the only rule then no reason you couldn't go 8's in a rail.

I went low 11's (11.10-11.20's) with a .533 MP cam and factory stamped rockers arms. (440 standard bore with factory cast pistons) Car weighed 3200lbs at the time with me in it.

Indeed, but I'm assuming that most people here are running production based cars.

A freinds roadrunnuer, full weight (3800?) 451 with a 268@ .050 race hydraulic went 11.47 through full 2 1/2 inch exhaust. I don't see why a bigger motor with a race hydraulic with as much as 276 @ .050 duration couldn't make 600 hp. I went 10.20s with iron 440-c bowl ported heads, 475 cubes, the same cam as my buddys 268@ .050 .540 lift but had indy dove rockers on it. 750 holley methanol carb. 3180 race weight. Take away a tenth or two for going to stock rockers and you have 10.40s?

8..603 156 mph best, 2905 lbs 549, indy 572-13, alky

Before NHRA/IHRA allowed any rocker (with standard ratio) to be used in Stock Eliminator there were plenty of cars in the tens and that’s with factory lift cheater cams.

Back when Stock Eliminator was seriously teched and rules enforcesd.

The rocker rule in Stock changed in 2012 iirc.

My friends Pontiacs had been well into the 10’s for several years by that time.
That’s with a net lift at the valve of .410”
The rule is .421”, but the stock rockers were never quite “1.5”.

He had the best longevity out of used factory rockers.
He’d tested piles of them from used motors to get 16 with the closest to 1.5 ratio as possible.

My 6BBL car ran 11.40’s in late 1979. Tracks and tires ligh years ahead now compared to then.

Plus now - acid ported heads, piston and rod weight specs way under factory released specs, no mechanical fuel pump or fan required, spools allowed,, on and on.

And of course data recording. Things sure have changed in the last 40 years.

Gainesville 1978 actually. Then a week later at Darlington for the IHRA race.
Great track and great air. Always wanted to run at Suffolk but never got the chance.

Now, 42 years later the fastest car in C/SA - Jason Line in his Buick went 10.0’s at Indy two years in a row.

I believe you but would love to hear more about that combo and how you got there. That seems pretty quick for that cam and weight. Probably had a really good converter??

The 440 in my wife's duster went 10.97-98 at 3 different tracks last season. The car weighs 2,960 with her in it. Its a 440 with Kieth black pistons, out of the box promaxx heads, .533 lunati voodoo cam, stock stamped steel rockers, M1 single plane, 750 double pumper and a 727 with a good 91/2" converter.

A 150 shot worked good on it, lol. smoke It ran 11.40s at 117 mph on motor only. Had a 10" TCI streetfighter converter in it. up
