Can anyone tell me if this BB pan is a 31420 or 31470? It's an older one, but need to make sure the drag link tube location is correct for the '66-up chassis. The earlier ones are located further to the rear. To me, this looks like a 31420 for the early chassis, but can anyone confirm?

That's just it, the pan isn't mine yet. Eyeballing it from pictures, the hole looks to be closer to the rear than the later chassis pan. Assuming it's for the old style, so I passed on it. Those things hang down REAL LOW anyway. Think I'm gonna make my own pan...eventually.

One of the things I liked about your combination was it didn't have the giant pan with 2 cases of oil in it, that most of them seem to have.

Is it time to step up?

I would say that is the 66 and up pan based on the measurements I have the 66 and up pan the drag link hole is usually centered on the second pan bolt from the back - its definitely old as the new ones use a square opening for more drag link room - Because Charlies went out of business in the middle of my build - I went with the Milodon 31420 - its only 4" off the ground and if i drove it on the street it would be an oil spill waiting to happen - next time the engine comes out I am changing pans to a custom build

BUY that pan..... cut the bottom off about 1/2 below the centerlink hole ( make it about 7" deep)

put a static pick up in the back, baffle it good around the pick up. Just have to be careful on the brakes and your all set

The 31420 is for the early chassis, 31470 is for the later. I do street drive mine still, so this really isn't the pan I wanted, but figured I can modify it.
I'd love to have one of the Charlie's pans since they are shallower. Sucks they went out of business.

I think I'm gonna modify my old aluminum 440 Source pan. Build a drag link "box" and then extend the sump to the rear. I'll do it later on since the motor will be ready to go back in the car soon.
My old pan suffered a little bit of damage from a wheelstand (I just put a new one on to replace it last year), but nothing that I can't straighten out when modifying it. Might as well experiment w/ it.
I'd like to stay w/ a single line static pickup since I feel the dual line is overkill, but uncovering it on the brakes is obviously a concern. That's a lot of area to try to baffle. I need to look at some pics of the insides of these bigger pans for reference.

Can you just plug one side of the swinging pickup and use a single line? Or does someone make a single swinging pickup?

I MODIFIED A PAN LIKE THE ONE ABOVE, it worked great for a while until I smashed it from wheel stands... I had a static pick up in the back and baffled it to control the oil on decal. IF you want some pics PM me your cell and I can text you pics. OR text me your number . 914 417 1312

Yup up
I've done that more than once instead of using the Milidon thin plate for the second line feed workwrench

Chip, I have a Dragster pan in the Road Runner, and use it as a single line. I just plugged the front hole,

I'm not sure, lol. As fast as I'm going and the sometimes high and long wheelstands, it stands to reason that a rear sump pan would be better. So far the center sump pan I've been running has not been a problem and N2Omstr (Tony) runs a center sump pan on his car...he's a good bit faster than me and has had no issues.
It's more of an insurance thing, but I don't want a huge low hanging pan on the car. It doesn't need 10+ quarts to be happy, it just needs about 7.5 or 8 quarts in the right place.

I bought the pan in the picture by the way. Eventually I plan to cut it up and shorten the sump so it doesn't decapitate fireants on the highway.

Thanks for the info and pics yall, I REALLY appreciate it! I got the old pan, which really isn't in too bad of shape, plus the swinging pickup w/ the 2 fittings for less than just the pickup costs new.

So I got this old beat up Milodon pan in last week and man, this thing is huge. Pic compared to the pan I currently use on the cuda.
It's perfect to cut up and modify though.

CHOP CHOP

POST YOUR PICS AS YOU GO

NO NEED FOR ANYTHING DEEPER THAN 7" REALLY, EXCEPT IN THE OLD DAYS THEY WENT UNDER THE CENTERLINK.

BAFFLES / TRAP DOOR IS YOUR FRIEND

I WOULD CUT THE BOTTOM RIGHT INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE CENTERLINK HOLE. SWINGING PICKUP IN THAT BIG CENTER SUMP YOU END UP WITH

OR CUT IT TO WITHIN A 1/2 OF THE HOLE AND STATIC PICKUP BEHIND THE HOLE. 440 SOURCE MAKES SOME NICE SMALL ONES THAT WILL FIT.
