Found this while browsing. Interesting. PRICEY. Did I say pricey? This company makes their own tops which bolt onto Weiand tunnel rams. With their supplied carbs they claim superior low end and midrange over the Performer RPM while great top end as well. But holy moly- $1900 for their kit!

Seems kind of like an answer to a question no one has. I could see someone putting together a kit that includes the carbs, fuel line, linkage and air cleaners but why do we need a new top for a tunnel ram?

Did you not notice the lack of a common plenum ?

From what I did read evidently having dedicated plenums improves low end. All good but that price! Knocking on new six pack induction cost.

The Weiand tunnelram in stock form beat all other intakes tested in a Hot Rod magazine feature story a few years back, i believe it was a warmed over 440 as the test engine. These guys are trying to re-invent the wheel and only charging more money and not vastly improving anything.

Individual runner tunnel rams where popular in Pro Stock for a short while in the 1970s on BB Chevy, Fords and Hemi motors scope
This add is for SB Chevy, correct? Including two new carbs, linkage and new special cast aluminum IR manifold at the retail price is probably not a bad deal twocents
I've converted more than one in line dual quad set ups on both 360 degree intakes and dual plane intake to one to one linkage to make then run better, way better on the early hemi motors and wedge motors with the dual quad single plane intakes up
I've never ran or race a IR tunnel ram motor so no hands on experience in tuning them or driving them shruggy

Way back - '70, '71? - knew a guy with one of those big-box tunnel rams on an SBC in a 4-speed '57 Vette.
Taking maybe half of the closet space out of that thing picked up the car a bunch.
Come to think of it, we also took the 4" spacers out of the front end to get the nose down...

Here's the article for those interested: (The tunnel ram figures are at the end of Part 2)

That's really old, and only for SBC motors. As far as the Weiand tunnel rams, I've got 2 for a low deck- they look different externally, but the mis-match between the top and base is damn near the same, There's an article on HR ...

We looked it over out-of-the-box and decided it needed porting. The runners neck down in height at about the midpoint from the cylinder-head side, then transition to a large cross-section "D" shape at the plenum. We performed considerable porting, carefully measuring the point of minimum cross-sectional area and removing metal in that area. Access to any part of the runners is wide open for porting, with the top plenum removed. Later, we found this note on the Weiand Hi Ram in a Mopar Performance race manual, "For best performance, the Weiand ram should be ported out to the size of the port in the head."Current link, since HR broke all the old ones
The manifold shootout was on a 383, what's not clear is if that is the ported manifold Steve Dulcich used in the older build, or another one he picked up later.
