I've got a bearing of unknown origin that appears to be 18-spline Mopar. The problem is that most of the hydraulic bearings that I've seen have a bracket to prevent the body from spinning. This one doesn't and I have no installation instructions to determine what will prevent it. The bright ring is threaded to allow for clearance adjustment and it has two heavy rings on the inside that appear to be for tightness against the bearing retainer, but that's all there is. Anybody know anything about this? Manufacturer? The last pic is what I've seen on line of bearings with a way to prevent rotation of the body.

Some have a long stud that goes in one of the bolt holes for front bearing retainer. The fitting rests against it to prevent rotation.

Tilton makes one as well. Might check them out.

I have a McLeod set up like that. It has no provision to keep it from spinning. The hoses will keep it from spinning. Sounds crazy but it only has to overcome the resistance of the bearing, which is not much.

I read multiple threads about people complaining but nobody has wrecked a hose with this set up. When I did see a video of it in action. I didn't like the body moving around back and forth a few degrees. Seems to me the it is not good for aluminum threads to be constantly moving.

So my set up I ran a small bracket. It's actually plumber's pipe support. Not strong but plenty strong enough. It only need to hold it from shaking on the threads. It been that way in my car for 2 years, approxmately 10,000kms.

How did you use the strap? Mine looks like a McLeod but in a different color. I had though that maybe the hoses would prevent the rotation, but that does seem like the wrong way to do it. I've also got a couple of other throwout bearings, but they are probably for a Tremec based on the load of parts they came with. No plans at this time of going away from the 18-spline. I'll get it on the bearing retainer and see how things go. Short block is now fresh, but my son is moving again so some parts of the project are on temporary hold. At least they're moving back across town so they'll be closer.

It's not pretty but the idea was to stop it from oscillating on the threads. It is the threads and the O ring on the shaft's job to center everything. I just wanted to stop the rotationanl movement with something other than the hoses.

I was prepared to fabricate something better looking and solid but when I mocked this up. It was solid and had enough compliance where I'm confident the assembly is stil centered and not pushed off center by my bracket. I can reach up there with it all assembled and it's not moving, even if you push it a bit.

I have some video of it with the engine running and the pedal going in and out but I can not seem to find it.
