My 69 Hemi Charger 500 will soon be in the painting process of its paint/body operation. I was curious.. I'm trying to get it as OEM correct as possible. I know the battery tray was installed prior to paint, so I'm curious on the coverage of body color. I'm sure the immediate underside of the tray didn't get much paint, but curious on the inner fender just under the battery tray and the support brackets.. Pictures would be great..
Thanks..

Yes and it wouldn't have matter since someone painted the whole car orange back in '81-'82 make a General Lee. I agree, no two cars were the same but there was a general pattern in which cars were painted in terms of production...

What I can tell you from my original-paint cars is that the compartment & hood underside were pretty much covered, but not as well done as the exterior. In some areas (backside of shock towers, for example) the paint was pretty thin, as were the frame rails below the top horizontal flange. Backside of underhood contours was pretty thin. The paint at the firewall had runs in a couple of mine. Top of battery tray (under battery) tended to be fairly thick (bridging fasteners/tray). Basically, a guy leaning into the compartment, waving the spray-gun kinda hurried, and a lot less care than we take restoring them...
